Hey guys, ive been researching the cause of this, and none of the previous threads mention the car will not start period.

History: I pulled the head apart after a burst block to turbo coolant hose left me stuck at school, I checked the valve train, and everything looked fine, no oil in the coolant, no coolant bubbling, no sweet smelling exhaust. So I installed a new 20g turbo (thanks justin!) along with an FP inline oil filter, changed out the engine oil and filter, re-sealed the valve cover, re-sealed the cooling junction (where all the pipes meet), installed new lower injector o-rings, so I figured she was ready to fire right up.

After I installed the new 20g turbo, and solved a coolant leak that persisted with a bad o-ring on the water pipe, I changed out the injectors with some FIC 650cc's, (have an SAFC coming next week) but figured I could at least turn it over to make sure there were no more oil/coolant leaks. But after trying, and trying, couldn't get the car to turn over at all. So I ran down a mental list of sensors that I may have missed, but they were all connected.

I finally checked the spark plugs and all but the plug on cylinder #1 were wet with a black looking fluid on it that smelled like gas ( i'm guessing oil? ) so I sprayed them off with brake cleaner, let them air dry and then re-installed them and tried again. Same result, only less of a mess this time, it was just covering the electrode this time.

I had installed NGK plugs set at .28 gap which is specification for the 4g63, but the wires are still NGK (they look old though) so my question is, is it the injectors that are causing this issue? or is there a bad gasket somewhere? Again, I have read the other threads but it seems to me like this issue has a different underlying cause, can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Seems to me like it is the injectors due to you need the AFC box. Probably will have to wait on the box to get the injector timing right. Seems like you a flooding the car out. Just my opinion.

Ok, that's what I was afraid of. I was guessing I could just turn it over but you guys are most likely right, I think Brian even warned me about this.. LOL :ohdamn:

this kinda puts my mind at rest though, at least my VC gasket isnt shot, or my piston rings arent leaking :D

Like stated, it's the injectors. The engine is trying to run on nearly 50% more fuel than normal, and the ECU isn't capable of that much correction to start. Reinstall the stockers until the AFC gets installed and she should fire right up.

Well install the stock injectors back in like said above and run it for about a good 15-20 minutes the pull your dipstick and make sure it dosent smell like gas. If it does go ahead and change your oil.

I thought I already kind of did that in the other thread :hmm: :p

As stated before, 2g's can't install any injectors larger than 450's and have the car run without compensating. Either install the stock injectors or wait until you get the SAFC installed and configured for the 650's. I'd also put a fresh set of plugs in there before you start it up.

yea yea yea, LOL. Point taken sir. Yea i'm just gonna wait until the safc2 shows up next week before trying that again LOL.

Also, can anyone think of anything else to try before i start her up? When i replaced the hose she would start, run great for 10-15 sec. then sputter and die. Someone mentioned a crank sensor, but i dunno if that makes any sense? :hmm:

hmm a good idea actually, better to have less gas in the cylinder than too much. yay detonation. LOL

those symptoms happened before i installed the injectors though, but you brought up a very good point about fuel puddling on the cylinder head.
