Did the converter brake boost at a higher rpm then before ?
So far, you are the only auto DSMer to change from a 1g head and intake to a 2g head and intake and nothing more..Your results are important and very helpful, maybe only to me :)

Yeah, I started out on the 2g head and e3 intake and have wondered the whole time if the 1g head might have been better (stock for stock)

I love reading Max's updates since we have such close setups that seem to be so directly comparable.

Rock on. 10.5 with 127mph is sweet, as is the 104mph half track!

Thats awesome for a 3052. Glad to see your puttin in work. How was the top end gain after the head swap??
It picked up 1.5 mph on the top..

Thanks Nate, its always good sharing info with you as we do have pretty close setups

Quickest I can recall is the TPG car.

With that awesome 1.51 60' you're nearly there. Go get it

Thanks for the link..looks like our 1/8 mile times are identical. Might just continue on with the 30r and maybe install the JMF Race intake to see if that wakes up the top end. Just not looking forward to re-routing the IC piping..again

Go for the record, you're close.

I'm sure the jmf would pick up slightly up top, but I really like the powerband of the evo3/rvr IM. Maybe you simply need to wait for colder weather, or do a little temporary weight reduction.

Well I did some digging around and it appears that 10.11 is the ET record for the 3052. Set by Andrew Kisner from TPG in his race 2G which I think weighs in at 2600 with or without him in it Im not sure..

Im at 3050 with me in it so thats a problem. Its an obtainable goal though :D

Ah yea the 2.4 should have no trouble spooling the 3065

Thanks KP. Forgot to menton it in my mods..it is a 2.3 and I have the FP housing on a standard 35r sitting on my bench. So it just may work

Bought the car with it on. Looks like the previous owner had a great idea where he cut the 0 and used the cut to make the 3.. Came out great actually

Never timed it..maybe 10 seconds. 7 seconds gradually going to 100% TPS then 3 seconds on the 2 step
It has a Translab kit in it and as far as I know its a stock trans and convertor. Full line pressure by way of chip and also a forced four box if I want to manually shift it.

amazing :thumb:

how many rpm's you make shift?

And it stalls? damn might have to get it.
It does. Hughes convertor, the right cams, and cam gears have made it possible.
The 2.3 helps alot I'm sure....

Yes it does..

Actually it's never launched harder :D The power increase with the HTA82 did give the stock 2.4 crank a heart attack and it gave up the ghost and split in 2 last week. This is the motor that came with the car when I bought it so I dont know how many miles were on it or its history.
Surprisingly little damage as it broke clean at the #4 piston counterweight. The block was ok, just 2 broken squirters and a scuffed rod. Pulled it out and rebuilt it on my garage floor. New eagle 100mm crank, new main/rod bearings and a spare eagle rod I had. Reused the same Wisecos and rings (they were ok) as any machine work would of taken at least 3-4 weeks for a proper rebuild (which I'll do over the winter). I started it up on Sat and took it for a spin today and it seems fine and holding at 29 psi. When the crank let go I had it tuned at 36 psi and it felt great and I was all set to go to the Etown event but ended up on a flat bed instead..

It was a ton of work though..Cost me $750 total for the crank, bearings, gaskets, etc. Hopefully it holds together so I can make some low 10 second passes come next week

Oh yea the carnage

^ yea it did suck! I wonder if using the billet crank pulley (no real damper) had anything to do with it? It was on it when I bought the car and all my stock ones are crap so I continue to use it. Hmm

Hard to say, I've been running a lighweight for at least a decade, but my car saw minimal use and was making 1/2 your power. I bought the Ati Superdampr for my first engine build....

Whats the story on the Hughes converter ? New or used ? If you remember my PM, you'll know why I'm asking:hmm:

I took my chances on a used one and its working so far and stalling consistant..I really havent had the time to beat on the car since I fixed it but I will today. If its ready to go then I will take it to a track rental next friday :D

I'm glad the Hughes is working out.... Are you still on the 262/272 HKS setup ?
Best of luck to you next friday:hellyeah:

Whats the dynatek thing kenny mentioned for us auto's?

I tried the 2 step..It was set at 4k, and I can't get that high.

I hear nate your gonna be working on my head here soon.

I still have to figure out cams but I'll still be on a 14b, untill I can blow that.

Yea you wont get that high on the 2 step without a convertor upgrade. Cams are real finicky on the auto setups so its gonna depend on your ultimate goal and turbo selection. The dynatek offers better 2 step control than what youll get on Link..

Hey Maxx, friday was looking rainy, but it appears that it will hold off. Did you go out for another rip?

I hope the rain holds off..Next time I rip it will be at the track :D

I just retorqued the head, which never seems to be off any of the times Ive done it. Its got a small oil leak at the drain flange that I should get to before I head for the 100 mile drive to the track. Im going to be running it at 32 psi for a back to back with the 3052

Good luck. Sucks to hear about the crank but seems like you got that all taken care of now.
