I've been overheating BAD. I've been logging temps of up to 225* on days that are 85-95*. Radiator is a Mizu unit with eBay fans, yes I know.
New OEM unit is on its way as well as OEM fans are waiting to go back on.
I remembered that ECMlink can control the fans, so last night I turned them to ON at all times, today on my way to school I logged a tremendous drop...185-190* cruising on the freeway with ambient temps of around 90-95*. It did however climb to 220* going up the Conejo Grade which is 6.5% inclined(Google). On the way down however is quickly dropped to 190ish* again. During stop and go traffic it doesn't pass 200*.

Now my question, is it ok to have the fans ON at all times? I know the eBay fans probably won't last long this way as the motor might fry, but what about the OEM fans? Is it UN-healthy for my alternator or battery?

Thanks.

I have the FAL Shroud. I used to have it running all the time, but it was loud and I wanted to get the most time out of this $500 shroud so I bought 2-30 amp relays and wired (12G) them separately and used the factory wiring as switches for the realys. works like stock now. Only kicking on when I turn on the A/C or it starts to get hot.

Quick update, the fitment is REALLY tight...but it fits perfect.
No trimming was necessary at all, and for the fans coming on...the ECU kicks the fans on at 213*, I was at 210* when I triggered the fans on via Link. I let it warm up until it reached 213* and WALA, the fan came on. Everything is in working condition.

I know this is an old thread but i've been searching and can't seem to find the answer that i need. I plan to use the Mishimoto x line radiator with stock fans as well. I know that clearance is a little tight but could i run this setup with a j pipe? OP profile states that he is running a Fp green which is the route that i plan to take in the future. Meantime i'm on a 14b, does anyone know if i could pull this off and if so is there a certain j pipe that will make this install easier? I'm also ordering a vrsf kit. Dont mean to thread jack but i thought this info would make a great addition to this thread for others looking to run similar cooling setups.
