After ditching my 16g setup last year for my HX-35 setup I though 11's were a lock first pass of the season. I was very wrong. My fastest pass with the car was a 12.3 with the 16g. I took the car to the track twice and could only net mid 12's. I new something wasn't right.

Right before the Shootout we discovered I had thrown a rocker possibly on my first start up of the car back in March. The lobe that rocker rode on had NO signs it was ever rode on besides the big old scratch from the rocker shooting off. I knew right away this is where all my power was being lost.

So I ordered 600$ worth of parts the week before the Shootout to attempt to get everything back together. I took the head off to lap the valve that had been closed all year just to make sure it was good. Got everything back together by the Tuesday before the Shootout but we just could get it to stay running and had no idea why. Ended up not taking my car to the Shootout because of it.

So we get back from the Shootout and I'm throwing all these part at it and nothing. So I'm going over all the connectors and WTF?! My damn map sensor was plugged in backwards. That was it my fuc$#%^ map sensor was plugged in backwards. So I took the car out and made some pulls and it felt so much better than before and it wasn't even recently tuned since I made some fuel changes. Runs very rich right now.

Everything on the logs looked good and all my buddies were headed over to our local track, Maple Grove for a Grudge night. I wanted to go and just watch but at the very last second decided "what the hell, I'll run."

Very first pass against my buddies fox body I run an 11.67 @ 120. I knew the run felt good but didn't know it was that good. When I got my timeslip I was literally screaming at the top of my lungs. My buddy was right behind me and said the guy giving out the slips was like, "Do you hear that guy?" LOL. I've been waiting almost 2 full years to best my 12.3 pass but could never do it until last night where I raped it.

Second pass I shifted into 2nd way to early and bogged to a 12.0 @ 117. Of course this was the only pass I have video of. Sorry for the video quality.

And on my 3rd and final pass I ran a 11.68 @ 118. Here is a pic of all 3 of my time slips.

This was only on 25 psi with 93 pump gas UNtuned. I want to get it retuned asap on 30-33 psi. My Holset is screaming at my for a rebuild so I will probably do that before anything right now. I'm also running out of injector with these PTE 1000's. I think I should get them flow tested because I shouldn't be maxing them out yet. I did buy them used. But all that aside I don't think I've EVER been happier. Nights like those is what makes all of the bullshit well worth it. Sorry for my novel, hope you enjoyed!

it always feels good to take another step down the ladder

Congrats man!! What are some more specifics in your setup?? Cams, turbine housing, race weight?!

Just curious since Im on an t/3 twin scroll Hx35 and looking for around 26-28 psi on pump gas on FIC 1000.. Should be pretty close to you and your set up!

If you have e85 available I know you can squeeze our a bit more with your fuel system.. Should be able to bump up to around 30-34 psi and get yourself into the 10s! I know a couple other guys with basic setups like this running high 10s!

Thanks!! I have Kelford 272's, JMF Intake, N/T TB bored out, t3 housing, speed density, 25 psi. There is much more but those are the basics. We don't have much in the way of e85 here. I have meth injection hooked up but I'm waiting to put in a pressure switch to run it. I'll be able to squeeze 40-50hp out of that. And I'm gonna get the car tuned for 30-33 psi hopefully next weekend. Need to get the turbo rebuild over the week. Hopefully I can figure out this idc% thing too. I'm hoping when all is said and done with 30-33 psi and meth injection I can reach 10's.

Sounds like quite the road! Congrats, thats how you break out of the 12's!

Yea man it definitely was! And thanks I couldn't have written it much better LOL.

Congrats nice to see another hx turbo putting out some good times. I love to read stories like this after the first paragraph I was sucked in to read the rest. Good stuff. Can't wait to hear more when it's retuned.

Nice ET for the MPH, what was your 60'? Good luck on going 10's your gonna need about another 100-125hp to get there.

I've been working all summer to go from an 11.75@122 to my current [email protected] Hopefully when I come home from school I put up a little more power and run that 10.85@135 LOL.

Congrats Jeff. I'm finishing my tune and heading to the track next friday. Hoping for something in the high 10's. :fingerscrossed:

Thanks Jon! Where the hell have you been? Haven't heard from you in forever! Hope you got your goal of 10's!

Thanks a lot man! It's definitely been one hell of a ride. Unfortunately I think I'm done with the car for the year. Had some things pop up that I wasn't expecting so my money is tied up elsewhere. This winter I'll get all the bugs sorted out than I'm planning on putting the car on the dyno come spring and hopefully 10's early next year.

Congrats on the run! i hope so one day run 11'

Thanks! I was saying the same thing at one time. Now I want 10's. Never happy LOL

Thanks! I have a pic of the slips in my original post. Was seeing 1.6-1.7 60ft's. Could be better, have yet to set up the anti-lag. Good luck on your goal man you're pretty close already.

Hiding in a cave, where else! I was planning on going to Numidia this Friday, but it looks like rain.. :sosad: The next open day i'd be able to go to is Nov 3rd at Maple Grove, so i'm planning on going there if Numidia is rained out. Either way, I need to change wastegate springs, as I was trying to get my tune finished up I realized I couldn't get my boost past 30#. I'm shooting for 35-37 pounds, so I'll swap in my 27lb springs and I should be set. Link is showing upwards of 640hp and 64/5 lb/min. I still have a little room to go on the timing, I'm at 19* now, and the AFR's will probably wind up in the 12.6-7 range once I get the boost figured out. It's still a handful even at 30 pounds, but I'm looking forward to seeing what the 6262 will do. Shoot me a text sometime!

Jon

Jeff,

We'll have to head to MG in the springtime. My car needs a new trans and clutch, so that'll be this winter's project.

Hope all is well.

Jon

Yea man we definitely will! My car is most likely done for the year as well. I'm burning oil like crazy and it's not pcv related. Either valve seals or rings. Obviously hoping it's valve seals but idk. I need to put a roll bar in the car over the winter, get a NICE exhaust manifold(thinking about the JMF you got), and put the car on the dyno with 30+ lbs. Then it will be track time. Hopefully in time for spring.

I'm moving out with my buddy so that's where all my money will be going for a bit.

Congrats on hitting solid 11s! You def have some more in the setup with more boost and good tune, especially if you decided to go e85
Curious why you picked up 25mph on the 2nd half of the track on the first pass(11.67) and picked up less than 18mph on the 3rd pass(11.68)? And ran the 1/8th 5mph faster in the 3rd past too?

Thanks man this car definitely has me excited for next season. The goal is 10's and I really think that's a possibility with little changes to my current setup.

And yea I noticed the difference in MPH myself and it kinda boggled my mind. Only thing I could really think of was that I was getting a bit of knock after the 1/8 mile and it started pulling some timing. I didn't log that 3rd run so I couldn't look but it seems plausible.

Nice car man!

Thanks!!!
