How did you guys clean your motors? I have 20 years of poop in mine and was wondering if I blocked off the alt somehow, would I be good to grab the garden hose and go to town?

I just spray with blue max "from car brite" and power wash it clean with battery unplugged and let dry.

No need to block off ALT?

Simple green or purple power. They work wonders. Just cover the alt and open wiring, try not to get those kinds of things too wet when you hose things down.

I'll head to autozone tomorrow then, I think they have simple green. I won't be washing till next week, but I'll post before and after pics. You should see my poor tranny. It gets antifreeze spilled on it ALL the time.

I've been pressure washing mine for years at the carwash. I hose everything. Just use common sense and don't get the nozzle down too close to any electrical connections or anything else important. And don't spray down a super hot manifold with cold water.

Just put a plastic bag over your alt and you should be fine. Just don't go nuts spraying the hell out of your injector areas and whatnot and you should be fine
