I was just wondering how clean does the transmission need to be before I primer n paint it (aluminum)?

This was one grody trans and this engine degreaser isn't getting everything, and a brillo pad can only go so far into the little nooks n cranny's.

No one in my area has a sandblaster, watter cannon ok?

or buy a dremel and little wire wheels for it to get in those hard to reach areas. takes a whiles but it works. if you dont get all the oil and grease off of it the paint wont stick and it would be a waste.

Thank you for reminding me I found old dremel stuff in my closet and a little wire wheel I just put into my plugin drill and that worked fine.

Brake cleaner for a final clean off also worked great per recommendation.

The wheel got clogged after a while but its nice to know other bits are pretty cheap.

Get as much dirt, oil, and grime off as you can. Paint surely will not stick to any of that. Then you end up having a spotty paint job and no one wants that :nono:

VHT Engine Enamel is the shiznat! Like four full days cleaning the thing, and an hour to apply a couple coats and it was sooo worth it.

My god if I could find my cell I'd take a picture.

Its just so beautiful...

Still haven't found my phone charger...after like 5 days...its an old one so i cant just go out and buy another

I decided to aim my old ass macbook pro at it. These grainy pics dont do it justice.

I remembered the old Sport Compact Car feature when they put their spray paint cans in hot water for better atomization/cover and shook it for a long while before bombing their first Sti.

...the last pic is a lil something else I got for myself during a bad day at work. They'll look nice with my cf hood and smoked headlights. These are the blind-every-creature-for-miles 1000's not the glorified foglight 500's.

I tend to buy silly stuff using my cell when I have bad days at work. Last time it was a ski trip to Colorado and a Parliament Funkadelic concert....that was a really bad day.

boom
