Hey all, I've been doing the DSM gig for years. I'm not active on any forums and I don't hang out with any other car guys. I kinda just do my own thing. My other 4 DSM's were mostly all 16g stuff with minor bolt ons. I've finally decided to pull the trigger.

This is all going into a 1990 TSi AWD M/T that has had all the 1990 stuff swapped over to 1991 (easier to find parts for). Not fun, but worth it in my book.

600hp is the goal for this build with room to grow turbo/fuel wise.
This will be a high revving motor also. I'm going for a very light weight rotating assembly. I expect to shift around 9k +/- depending on how things go.
As you will see from the dates for parts in this list, I'm building the engine and head first, then buying all the bolt on goodies, little by little. I'm hoping to have this thing going this fall or maybe next spring. I'd probably die driving it in Fairbanks in the winter. It was bad enough with the 16g setup.

I would have posted this in the journals section but... I won't have any pictures of anything because I work out of town with almost no days off during the summer. Hopefully I can get this thing to the track next summer and see what I can break!

Engine:
Eagle crank with FFWD Butcher job and anti windage coating (done)
Aluminum rods (within the next month)
Custom pistons with ceramic coating (within the next month)
ACL Trimetals with surface treatment (done)
Kiggly Main girdle (within the next month)
ARP Main studs (within the next month)
Fidanza aluminum flywheel with ARP hardware (within the next month)
and of course a new water pump/oil pump/etc etc (stock maintenance parts)

Head:
FFWD S/S Dominator package 2g head (done)
---+1mm Supertech black nitrided valves
---Supertech Bronze valve guides
---Viton seals
---BEE-Mad beehive spring kit
---DKS 272/272 Cams
---Fidanza Adjustable gears

Intake/Exhaust/Turbo:
JMF Race 2g manifold Curt Brown special (august?)
JMF TiAL V-band top mount manifold (august?)
TiAL MV-R wastegate (august?)
Q45 Throttle body (august?)
FP HTA 3582R (august?)
FMIC/piping (done)

Fuel:
FFWD High Flow fuel system (supports 800ish hp) (done)
Injectors TBD (probably some blue max 1350s) (FIC 850's for now)

Drivetrain:
4 bolt swap rear (winter project)
Shep Stg 4 tranny (fall)
Shep tcase (fall)
DSS axles and driveshaft (fall/winter)

There's gonna be a bunch more stuff added to the list. This is just a list of things that I've commited to, and have made plans to purchase (or already purchased).

I can't wait to get home and see my pile of engine parts waiting for me to scrutinize and ogle. Wish me luck!

I plan on it. I'm working in Paxson right now for another 2 weeks, then I have to head near Mentasta for a week or more, then I have to do some work near the Ruby Cr. bridge, THEN I get to come home and take pics of all the parts stacked up.

By the time I get back I should have the crank and head in my hot hands. I've got lots of other parts already as mentioned. I just wish I had more time off to work on car. Gotta make money somehow though, right?

Stay tuned.

Update:
Due to my friend moving out of town on short notice. He sold me his built 2.3 1994 TSi AWD for 3000 bucks, after he spent 12k on it. I did most of the work, so, it's in a good home. That being said, I'm 3k behind on my project funds now.

My crankshaft came in, my intake manifold and turbo manifold are in, along with my coolant overflow and oil catch can. The head is finished as well. I also have my Kiggly main girdle and HLA pressure regulator in. My pistons and rods should be complete by the end of the month I'm hoping. 9.0:1 C/R custom pistons with the 22mm HD pin and a ceramic coating on the crown, with custom quench pads. There's still all the smaller stuff to buy, and a few other bits and pieces. I plan on having the engine together this spring hopefully.

I'm buried in projects, just like a typical gearhead so, I'll try to stay on task as best I can. The snow is gonna fly soon and I have 2 sleds that need some love too.

I'm changing my turbo selection now that I have the 2.3 car. The stroker car will be my street car, and therefore I can go all out drag mode on the red car with no worries about streetability. I'm going to run the HTA GT3794R now.

I'll have pix up this evening of my hot new parts. Stay tuned!

Sorry these are so late. I've been extremely busy working. Enjoy!
