So I have a k1500 gmc z71 with a lot of miles on her! Looking to do an oil change, but I was looking for the best, but safest internal engine cleaners to use? Also, best fuel and valve train cleaners I can dump in my
Gas tank. I've run across stay away from the STP's but never an awnser of what would be safe to use! Just looking to help clean out all the old sludge from oil gallery's and such. Thank for any input!

I have had good luck with Sea foam, dump it in the gas tank and the oil right before an oil change. Also putting some through the intake isint a bad idea.

Sea foam not a bad idea at all, at work we use drop ivs, to do system cleaners, but I think dumping it thru a vacum line I have taken down a engine right after seafoam just to prove it works. Techs at work say dumping it in does nothing but send water thru the exhaust hints the smoke but Idk if I belive them.

It's just a faster, more effective way to clean the intake system than running it through gas. If you aren't concerned about current build-up and it being there right now, you're fine to just run it through a tank of Gas.

Having a built motor I'm always concered about build up LOL, when I pulled my first head 1.8 2003 I was amazed that that much stuff could cling onto engine parts and not be blown away

I know my truck needs it. The last few oil changes I've done the oil is just nasty black!

Ive only put 6000 miles on it and change the oil at or before the 3,000 mile marker. However, The trucks got 150,000+ on the body, but no idea on the motor. The motor was replace with one out of a tahoe that my buddy installed before I purhased the truck last feburary. I know the cleaners not a miracle cleaner, but I'd like the have the piece of mind I'm doing something by cleaning out the sludge that is more than likely in the oil gallerys, main and rod bearings and everywhere else.

You probably want to run it through the oil then. You can do it as soon as 100 miles before an oil change. Just add 1.5 oz seafoam per quart of oil. Should clear all the sludge out and have the engine much cleaner (supposedly, it cleans varnish too).

Yea BG is a great product, but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and their product is really expensive, i use all their products for every service, fuel service, power steering service, oil flush, trans flush.. their oil cleaner/conditioner is top line stuff, and for both cans it will run ya about $40 and worth every penny :thumb:
