I have 1g calipers from 1991 talon (bought from parts store) because all the 1990 calipers I tried to get were a different design completely. I have had a hard time trying to find the right calipers and brackets.

I thought I finally had it figured out but my pins from the caliper are to large in diameter to fit into the bracket. This is the bracket I have CARDONE 14-1238 Brake Caliper Bracket.

Sadly I no longer have my original brackets or calipers. Some dimensions that may help..

The pins on my new caliper are
17mm head
.420 dia. x 3.65 long
.425 dia. x .412 across flats x ??? long

The pins that I still have from my old caliper(these ones fit the bracket)
17mm head
.380 dia. x 3.63 long
.385 dia. x .380 across flats x 3.56 long

So what should I be looking for? Ideally I would like to get brackets to fit these pins but I don't know if one is made that will bolt to car. Do I have the wrong calipers? Not sure what I need! Any input is appreciated.

Thanks all,
-R.J.

You have to watch out I know advance has the part numbers completely messed up depending on if you pull up an AWD model or not. They also sell two different versions that have a bracket and ones that don't. Where have you been looking for one?

MB699263 is the Mitsu part number for the mounting bracket if that helps at all.

You are correct in assuming that the brackets are different from 90 to 91+ . The 90 bracket part numbers are, MB534989, and the part number for the 91+ is, MB699263. The caliper pins are also different, the 90 caliper pin part numbers are, MB238735 and MB238736 . The 91+ pins are, MB699167 and, MB699166 . The calipers are different also, the 90 left caliper part number is, MB587025, the right side is, MB587026 . The 91+ caliper left side is, MB699172, and the right side is, MB699173 .

What is the build date of this car?
Bryan I tried to look it up but there was a smaller set of brakes for very very early build 90s but CAPS/ASA sort of conflicts on this. I don't know why.
OP is this the original set of pins you're using but you no longer have the calipers and brackets? What about rotors? What diameter?

Hey guys appreciate the feedback. I finally decided to modify the brackets after pullin all my hair out.

Fabrication guy at work helped me out. Drilled out the bracket so the larger pins would fit. We drilled it out to 7/16" All is fine and dandy now! On the road again!

I ran into same issue with my 1990. Parts store told me there where 2 different sizes of pads. And well I didn't want the headache so upgraded to the 2piston calipers off a Galant and never looked back. Just when I order the part for my fronts I gave them the year, make, model of the galant I got them off of.

I now keep a small note pad in my glove box of different year make and model of cars I've gotten parts from to keep track for future reference.

Helps alot.
