I opened my "authentic" Greddy bov's top to do the single spring mod and found this. I believe the authentic Greddy bov diaphragms are black are they not? It has Greddy on it and came in a Greddy/Trust box that all looks very authentic but i believe i have been duped. Can anyone confirm?

this BOV is a knockoff, or an NGR a best.

Thats what I thought too. Just look at how cheap it looks compared to the one from the evo site.

Wait did you just say that the bov in the Evo picture is the knockoff?

no no no - the one in your first post is legit. the one from the evo site is at least a knockoff housing, but it may be an NGR diaphragm.

What makes you think the evo one has a knockoff housing? You can see on the side it has the extrusion that would say Greddy if you were looking at it.

because of the top half of it thats laying behind it. The greddy one is supposed to have a sticker on the top of it. Also, the knock offs still have the extrustion on the side, they just dont have the greddy letters on it, so its really kind of dificult to tell otherwise.

Regardless, from the looks of that top section, I'm betting it a dud.

evo forums is real other seems fake, you can tell it says greddy on the side thers a little hump the top greddy logo plate just fell off.. look closer.. plus the blue gasket is a give away..

The one in the evo pic def says Greddy as you can see in this different pic. As for the top it is a sticker that you have the option to put on or not so that does not mean anything.

So it's very well possible that GReddy made a running change on these at some point and that they haven't always used the same diaphram. I know both of mine are 8+ years old so maybe the orange diaphram units are simply older models...?
Ok well if you say that yours has the orange diaphragm I will give it a try and put it on my car...see if it makes that signature whistle or not!

my friend got the fake one and I thought it sounded pretty cool, he on stock boost for now so he should be alright.. His fake dont look anything close to yours though.. maybe it is just the older one like he says.. :thumb:

Well all I can say is that I wish it was an older model diaphragm...but unfortunately it was not. No whistle, only a dump woosh. Thats okay though, because I just got my new NGR type S in and it sounds/works amazing! Highly recommend it!

Well, I was wrong. I just opened up my GReddy BOVs tonight and found them both to have black diaphragms. I don't know how I screwed that up. I must have been thinking about the orange diaphragms in my Tial gates... Just figured I'd post to correct my previous statements.

My Type S is 100% authentic, and has a Black Top. This was Purchased overseas. It's more than 12 Yrs old. It Originally had a Black Diaphragm, but has since been switched out to run the NGR Orange Diaphragm. I did not put the sticker on top.

Most of the Type S's sold here were the purple anodized, however they were available in silver, blue, and black
