If I am seeing that correctly, it has that much in and out, DONT USE IT! The wheel has contacted the housing and will be blowing shards into your motor. . .

Looks like it could use a new bearing. Send it to Justin and let him rebuild it for ya.

Whos justin? and i just bought this thing off ebay, dude said everything was good then i get it and this stuff happens, also he told me it came out of a good running car, then when i told him about the problem he said it came out of a totaled car, he also said everything appeared how its suppses to be after i told him to test it for shaft play, now he says his friends said it was okay i filed a dispute

I read that .004 inch is acceptable or .1mm is that tru thats like no space and how do you measure that i know this thing is like .4 or .3

You would need a dial bore indicator to measure it properly. If you can feel the play than it is bad. .004 would be like the thickness of a sheet of paper.

You definitely have more than .004. It looks like you need a rebuild.

Justin is a member here that rebuilds turbos and does a really good job. Good luck on the paypal claim. What did you pay for it?

I paid 330 ouch I know he just offered me $150 back how much will this justin charge looking like it needs a thrust bearing

Its pretty bad I think this guy thought that he new this turbo was okay just he didnt thoroughly check it

Hell het me running that baby girl LOL? yeah hope he doesnt hi ball me these things dont look that hard to rebuild just the balancing part, I sent him the video hopefully hell make me a resonable offer and this thing will be off need to get the thing done asap t25 is on its last stand sounds like a pack of wolves only doing about 25 mph

Send it to justin he is awesome with these. Take the 150 from the seller and send it to justin(jusmx141) and have him rebuild it!

+1000

Some side to side play is normal. In and out play is a NO NO. Don't run that thing!!

Ya know, ive heard in/out play is bad... and i know it IS, BUT i had a t25 that i used to break in my motor. Thing didnt smoke one bit and and boosted just fine. Took it off and it had ridiculous in out shaft play.

+1 rebuild that in and out. Very slight side to side is okie when dry. But with oil in the bearings it should be pretty solid.

I rebuilt my big 16g with a kit Justin recommended had almost no side to side but enough in and out to mangle the compressor wheel against the housing. Got new wheel from same supplier as rebuild kit.

Disassembled, cleaned and reassembled it all and it's tight as stone with oil in bearings.

Definitely needs a rebuild man, send it to jusmx and he usually charges $150 not including shipping. You pay to ship it to him and pay him to ship it back, basically you're paying a round trip for your turbo, but his price includes the labor and all the parts and stuff as long as nothing wrong with the wheel or housings I believe. I'm going to be getting my Evo 3 turbo and possibly the 68 HTA turbo rebuilt by him some time this month.

Since you bought it used from an unknown source, you're foolish to run it as-is without rebuilding it first. Doesn't matter the mileage- 500 or 50,000; the same amount of internal damage can be done if you run a turbo that was ever improperly-oiled or fed contaminated oil from a failing engine.
