I was looking around the search section of the Forum looking for any reviews of any balance shaft elimination kit and couldn't find any solid reviews. (Maybe I am just failing at searching). I was looking on STM the other day and saw they had a balance shaft elimination kit for ~$50. Now the questions are:

Has anyone used this kit and had success?
Would you recommend it to anyone?
Not sure if ~$50 is cheap or expensive, so what are you opinions?
Any other kits you would recommend?

Ive been trying to find a good kit so I can do it right the first time and not mess anything up. I've seen kits range from $20 to $200, not sure what will be worth it.

Any positive helpful information will be greatly appreciated.

I picked up the STM from a fellow member here that recieved an extra. I like the STM one because it has the OEM stubby shaft and not some solid bolt like the cheap sets. It's decently priced to. 2-3 times the cheap ebay ones, but under $60.

I'm rocking the STM kit on two TSi's currently. Works fantastic. They have the needed oil groove, and the parts cam in Mitsubishi OEM wrapping and numbers.

I know STM's kit it legit. I have used one on a friends car and about to use one on my new motor. Have never had any problems with it!

i will vouch for NOT getting the cheap kit. i had one of thous non-oil grooved stub shafts eat an oil pump. they are a different metal and slightly off on the size and i think slightly egg shaped. bad news, spend the 60$ and get a good kit.

+1 on the stub shaft with the oil groove, at the very least. I've used three different kinds of BSE 'kits'. The one with the oil groove was first, and worked fine.

When I had an unrelated catastrophic engine failure(a melted piston), for whatever reason, the shop ordered a new stub BSE, and installed it. Problem is, they ordered a BSE kit without the oil groove, and guess what? Oil pump failure...basically destroying the motor again.

That's when I ordered this one myself...

AMS 4G63 Race Balance Shaft Eliminator Kit

It's been in the car for over 4 years, and no problems.

if yur gunna do that just get the bearings and plug and take yur stock shaft to a machine shop and have the weights removed. it will save you 100$.
