I have a quick question on removing the condenser and a/c lines. When I bought the car the a/c was removed but the lines are there and they are cut right before they go into the condenser(so it looks like). My question is how can I remove the condenser since its only blocking more air and its non functional. I will be replacing my radiator in the next 2 weeks so when I take it out I want to take out the condenser as well. I was thinking maybe I just make a hole in the middle and pull it out??

My other question is, I have some random a/c lines running here and there. I wanted to take them all out. I have one fat hose running near the power steering lines and there are 2 skinny metal lines which have been cut right before entering condensor. Lastly I have one line clipped onto the fire wall but at the end its missing a hose. Where are the bolts holding the big hose down? I want to remove all the a/c components so if there is something I am missing please let me know. Thanks in advance and sorry for the long noob post LOL.

To pull the condenser out you need to un bolt or remove the radiator then you will see the last couple bolts that hold the condenser in. As for the lines, just trace them and see what is holding them in place. There are only 4 sections that are bolted in and that's at the fire wall for the evaporator, the compressor, the drier, and lastly the condenser.

Will I need to take out the fmic? One of my friends told me I had to but I wasnt sure. So theres no frame or anything holding the condenser in place except the bolts? I was thinking its completely housed and I had to cut something to get it out :ohdamn: LOL.

I tried tracing the main a/c line(fat hose) and it seems to go down somewhere near the driver side of the motor and it just disappears:confused: Now for the evaporator, is that a really skinny line clipped onto the firewall? and where is the drier located?

I wanted to thank you for all your help man I really appreciate it:)

Seriously, just follow the lines, get in and get dirty. The drier is behind the driver light and looks like a cylindrical can.

LOL sounds good, thanks! and I think the drier has been removed, I didnt notice any can looking thing behind the driver headlight. Ill double check and make sure.

Will it cause any problems if I take out all the lines? like will debris get in the uncovered areas and mess anything up?

No, you'll be fine just removing it.

You can see the drier in this link.

You can see the compressor in this picture below the intake manifold.

In my 1g I just pulled the FMIC to get to the condensor and drier. It wasn't to hard to get to...just a couple of bolts and a little twisting and boom it came out. As for the lines do as stated above, just trace the lines and remove the bolts to the tabs that hold them in place.

that pic is perfect, thanks snowborder! the drier has been removed, i see the brown clip just hanging around. Now for the condenser and lines :)

Just pull it right out... I've pulled out my compressor in the 2g and a compressor in a 1g without removing anything other than un bolting the brake fluid reservoir.

What this guy said. haha probably best thing ive ever removed on my GST was that daem heavy air compressor and the lines. So much more room to work in behind the block to reach the starter, the intake manifold bolts and definitely made cherry picking my motor out easier. Personally would recommend removing if you dont care about the AC and when you need to get your hands back there and realize theres a barely any room to do anything with it there.
