I recently picked up a 2G spyder gst and the idle kind of surges but not as the FAQ's describes idle surge it pretty much goes brum brum brum brum just kinda of a constant 1000-1100 back and forth repeatedly. only CEL code Im throwing it P0505 i believe which is Idle Control valve but would that cause the rough idle and previous owner said he replaced it. Any answers or suggestions would be great. dont have volt meter to check Idle control valve so any other ways to check it it works would be great, thanks!

bump? its not really any other the typical idle surging really cause I adjusted my idle and reset my ecu by taking off the positive terminal and its been three days and I no longer throwing a CEL any suggestions?

Thanks...... Cause i didnt look at the :l any ways guess ill try and figure it out.

I could probably be more help, but I'd have to see your car and listen to it run. I'm usually available mon- thur during the day. I work fri- sun. my number is 268-7731

alright its weird cause they guy i bought it from said it has a slight valve issue but idk if that would cause a mis fire cause sometimes it idles fine but most of the time when I first start it up it sounds exactly like brum brum brum brum just like it were to have cams acutally but i know it doesnt.

Sound like the ficv. Mine did that before I blocked off the passages. It's a easy fix. What should happen is it will rev up to 2000 Rpms then drop back down over and over again. Charile90gst is right. Use the link he provided

Yea i bought it from a guy in austin why? And with the ficv i block it off? Also its gone to 2000 rpms then back done over and over but its only done that once and never did it again

did he say anything about spare parts including a spare head, if so i almost bought that car.

I didn't like what he said about "valve problems" you might need to do a cylinder compression test to check for bent or stuck valves as well.

Yea i have that rebuilt head i just gotta wait for the money to come up to put it on

I read somewhere on here that the idle control valve was part of the throttle position sensor, i'm not sure if that is accurate, but if it is you might be stuck replacing the tps.

bump, found out its mis firing any reason why it could be doing this? its only mis firing on idle runs fine on a pull.

Might be a bit of a dummy suggestion, but have you checked all the usuals? Plugs and plug wires? Might be a sticking valve....

No back firing but kinda shakes. I have checked all the usual stuff. + not throwing any codes

is it fixed yet? man dude i miss both my DSMs :( have one still at shop getting redone, stupid wiring issues and the other well it gets hot so i just dont drive it LOL, aint got money like that to throw around no more :( if only someone could "hook me up" LOL

its not fixed:/ with the a/c on it idles better but still kinda seems like it misfires every now and again at idle.

It might be bent valves.does it sound like its has cams hit me up i can check it out for you cheap payment plan LOL 2013679912 Carlos
