Hey guys. Planning on going Turbo in the spring so I've been reading ALOT. while doing so I saw something about a front bolt mod? I figure its involving the front motor mount but I can't seem to find an explination on what it is. Maybe I didn't look deep enough I don't know. Anyway, could someone tell me what it is? Thanks guys:coy:

This is a good mod. It involves getting a larger bolt, i believe 3/4", that actually matches the front trans/roll stop mount's hole. Youll notice the front roll stops bolt isnt very big, and the bracket attached to the trans has the same small hole, where the mount itself (mounted on the X member) has a large hole. So you need to match a bolt to that hole. Then drill out the small holes on the trans mount to accommodate. this will reduce/Eliminate any slop. Take it apart, it will become clear. I use a grade 8 bolt, with a Lock washer and nut. Its a big bolt. its either 1/2 or 3/4", readily available at a local HW store and it will be standard.

i recently did my four mounts ( rear was broken ) and i had bad wear on another.. I had also noticed that the front bolt was so small.. Didn't understand why the car would come like that from the manufacturer.. Im definitely going to change the bolt some day soon.

Perfect. Thanks for the info guys. Ill definately be doing this.

I did it on my car, and you can fell a small difference launching on the track

and a little faster response to the pedal on the street at regular driving

IMO is a great and very cheap mod :)

you only need a drill, a big bolt and a big nut (plus some tools)

This mod is great for us since the front lower mount bolt is Sooo small. Every time I used to shift I would feel the engine slamming around on the bolt. After putting in a bigger bolt it went away and shifting was a lot smoother and stiffer. Love it!

+1
I didn't know this was an official "mod." When I put the Prothanes in, I upgraded the bolt while I was at it. I suppose I didn't notice the difference that the bolt made with the addition of the mounts.
