Couldn't be happier with the results of the compound setup. Its crazy to think of an idea over a beer about 8 months ago. Talking to Paul Volk and Tyler Hassing about charger size and not needing nitrous and possibility of a stock converter. Well it is now the fastest auto dsm on the stock converter.
Car was consistent all weekend. Saturday it went 9.7(personal best) and 9.8(qualifier). I ended up picking up the 1 qualifying spot in the DSE class. Sunday I made sure the car was shifting properly and got used to leaving on the pro tree.
I happened to get 3 byes in a row a just walked into the semi finals. There were 3 cars left and Cory running the fastest time so far got the bye. I faced Drew Jones in his bad ass 90 Talon supporting a BMW S366. We pitted right next to each other and have been talking all weekend. He started turning the boost up and somehow was lifting his nicely setup head. On this pass he had a chance for a 9. He had the 1/8th mile time and speed to get it. Unfortunately he melted a ground strap on a spark plug and dropped a cylinder at the 1000ft.
The finals were against defending champ and stock block record setting 7 bolt, Cory Bowers in his Evil Tsi. Huge props goes out to Cory for hitting that 10.10 record setting pass and backed it up. In the pits he told me he turned the boost controller up and we were going to see what happened. Unfortunately for him he turned 1/2 turn to far and he hit the AEM boost cut at 40psi. You can see the car break up at the top of 3rd.
This year was a blast. All the competition was top notch guys. Everyone pushed there cars to the limit. Its too bad Tim Zimmer didn't get more runs with his GSX. First round of qualifying ended his shootout as he lifted his head on a 9.9 pass. Next year is going to be nuts. Multiple 9 sec street cars will be running in the class. Look forward to some fast dsm's
