Getting ready to swap out my T25 with a s16g. I had to get a 14b housing for it, and it occured to me that the ceramic coated manifold I bought was ported to
7cm. I was broke, so the only thing I could afford was electric dremmel attachments and my free time.

Here is the result... smooth to the touch

Going to smooth out the errant track marks that the cutting tool made before I install it

GJ or more work should be done?

Looks awesome. Now would be the perfect time to port the wastegate channel and flapper hole to reduce boost creep.

I thought all you had to do was shave off enough so the wastegate flapper could open up all the way. So you're saying it's a good idea to port the actuall wastegate hole? I have a open wastegate dump pipe, will that help with the creep?

Yes, porting out that channel will make it easier for the exhaust gasses to pass through the wastegate rather than being forced over the turbine. I would suggest doing some research as to how big to go since those housings are already prone to cracking.

Yeah I looked at four different ones and they all had cracks or canyons on that channel. Then I found this one, it was like finding noahs arc. Not one crack or defect. Not sure if I want to mess with the channel since it's held up so well.

Yeah, I can't blame you. So long as you have the supporting mods to handle any unexpected increases in boost you'll be fine. Just thought I'd offer the suggestion.

I'll probably stay on the safe side and port it out. I was hoping the atmosphere dump and the cat would give me some wiggle room. I think I have all the supporting mods (some are probably over kill). Could someone take a look at my profile?

The Walbro 255 and 650's should be good for anything that 16g can throw at them. 660s and a 255 were more than able to support my small 16g at 25psi.

Awesome, thanks to all for the input. :hellyeah:

I ended up making sure the wastegate flapper could open at 90 degrees instead of 75-85. I cleaned the dust out of everything and slapped it back together and made sure it had ample pre load. I hope I oriented it right since this is the first time I've ever took a cartridge out of a beat up housing and installed it on a new one.

Heres some pics.
