I am interested in something similar to the picture below which is for an evo. Do they exist for our cars? If not directly, does someone know where you can get one that I could modify to work with our cars? Post links please.

You can easily make one yourself. Give it a shot.

But I'm looking for a good starting point. I wouldn't want to make it from scratch. I could easily modify something for another car to work with mine.

In for future find... I too need one, asap. I've looked at some JDM kits, but look really big/bulky.

just drill two holes in the side of your bumper and screw her down.

Sure if you want to run over your license plate on the highway. Bad idea.

Ok so you are saying all current license plate holders are magically connected to the car? I believe most holders are screwed on.

Anyways food for thought, maybe you can create a mold of you front bumper and make one from the mold to accommodate the plate.

They aren't just screwed into 1/8th inch plastic. They have fasteners.

I've pulled off FACTORY front plate mounts to many cars and would have to say, you are wrong. 90% of the time they are just a short coarse thread screw right in to the bumper skin.

My plate has been screwed straight to the bumper since I've owned it, and the guy before me had it there, and the guy before him most likely.

I used to work at a dealer as a tech... those plate brackets are ALL held on with those coarse thread screws.... no way will you find a mechanic who will take the time to put fasteners on the back... too much work because 90% of the time, the bumper would have to come off to do so... no no

Right, my rear plates attached with coarse threded screws and it holds perfectly

Have you tried the Evo plate holder? If you're hell bent on getting one, start there. It should work.

This is what I want ^ Thank you :thumb: Any sources? I searched today for evo license plate holders on ebay and did not find what I was looking for (as well as other combinations of OEM and bracket and plate and such)

Seeing this though, I'll search again.

Thanks guys, well since I know the dealer will try to tear me a new one, I did some searching.

$31.60, Beat ya!

O.P. Do you have pix of it installed/mounted already?

Actually, I never got the OEM Evo plate holder, I decided it was more cost effective to reuse the OEM Eclipse plate anchors. I got a license plate frame for free where I got my car inspected. I took 2 SS allen cap screws (M6 x 1.0), fastened the plate holder down, and zip-tied the plate anchors to two spots on the frame. This works well without tapping into your bumper.

Here's how it looks (excuse the dirt):

Just put some 3M double sided tape on the back and use some drywall anchors- done and done

I moved it to that same spot that they are showing. I used "nutserts" it's just like a "pop" rivet, but it has threads inside. Puts a machine thread nut in any sheet metal. I purchased the whole kit from amazon.com

Pics! So far I am a fan of the Evo 8 mount. I may go with that when I get my car painted. But for now the zip ties hold just fine.
