whats up tuners i got a 91 talon awd that i just recently did a engine rebuild on.brought the car not running ,found the problem to be a warped head ..warped beyond repaired.decided 2 rebuild whole engine brought block 2 machine shop 2 get spec. up and honed ..got block back and went 2 work.work done:balance shaft elim.,new 1g stock piston/old rods,acl racing main/rod bearing,replaced head with one known good 1,bc 272,crower stock valves,crower spring/retainers,new valve seals,act 2600..so engine been build from top 2 bottom,the problem im having is car wont stay running at idle would idle @700 rpm 4 bout 3 seconds then drop 2 500 rpm then dies,with boost gauges reading 8-10in,and wideband maxed out lean,also if i have car running once i step on the clutch car dies...tried 2 set base timing but car isnt on long enough 2 perform it...any help is highly appericated...:cry:

Holy sheep sh_t dude! I am not one to flame, but you are really going to have to use decent grammar and sentence structure to get any help here! I would help if you could explain what you did a little more clearly. Maybe some history of the problem, did it just start after a repair or rebuild like the OP or is your situation a little different.
 
I have a 1990 Talon and whenever I unhook the battery it idles really bad and sometimes dies. I think the ECU just has to learn how to idle, it takes a couple days of driving. Does it run fine if you give it some gas?
 
^^^^LOL.....sorry about that was typing while driving...list of mod:bc 272,standard crower valves,crower spring/retainers,new valve seals,new 1g stock piston/on old rods,new acl racing main/rod bearing,balance shaft elim.,act 2600,new gaskets and seals all around,everything else is basically stock fuel inj. maf.etc....problem im having is car wont stay running ,would idle @ 700rpm then drop to 500 rpm with wideband maxing out lean and boost gauge reading 8-10in , then would just stall out ....even with clutch pressed in car stalls out immediately..if i try starting car with clutch pressed in..engine wont catch....and im having trouble setting base timing due to the fact that the car isnt running long enough to set it....any help is appericated ....
 
i am running into a similar problem except mine with hardly idle at 500 rpm and will just die almost right away. I suggest doing a boost leak test.I did one and my intake manifold gasket was very leaky. I will be changing it tommorrow and it will hopefully solve my issue
