Ok so on the way to work today my car lost all voltage to te battery and was running on the alternator. Pulled the car into the shop and starting checkig connections, had the car idling and it died. I thought it was the alternator so i swapped a known working one in and the alternator is only outputting 7 volts. Im at a loss as to what it could be.

Mods that matter: battery relocated
200amp fuse
Jegs 300amp kill switch
Fusebox relocated to passenger firewall
Distribution block 0gauge to 4 4gauge
0gauge from battery to fuse to killswitch to distribution block
4 gauge from distributio block to starter
4 gaue from distribution block to fuse box
Saturn alternator
S wire hooked to distribution block

I have heard a bad starter/ground can cause issues??

Edit:: Ok, I have read in other posts that an bad starter can cause charging/ other related issued involving the alternator.

You can't say "I heard" read the posts above this. Edit read post #11,12, and 13.
A bad starter ground can cause issues, yes.

Op, have you taken one of the failing alternator to a starter/alternator shop to find out if any parts are failing inside the alternator? It may help to figure out the root cause.

I can unfortunately say I am having the same problem. I just bought a 1992 galant vr-4 and I have now killed 2 alternators in the last week! I think it is time to check grounds sicne DSM's are known for having grouning issues. Alternator fuse is good, since the new alternator and the old one were working I'm going to assume the relay is good, but needs to be checked tomorrow. If anyone else has any other good insight it would be much appriciated.

The galant is almost completely stock.

Thanks,

Zach

Would a bad battery kill an alternator in 2 days, or am I looking at bigger problems?

It appears that the alternator relay has shorted out, there is continuity between the two terminals. I'm asuming the relay be shorted caused my alternator to over work.

Replaced the alternator relay which was shorted, installed anew optima yellow top battery and replace the alternator for the 3rd time, so far so good!
