He lived in CA last year. :)

Is it coincedence that he made the drive one year from california and moves to texas the next? Probably, but I'm just saying it's a long ass drive and it must be nice to live closer than 2000 miles :) Hope everyone has fun! btw is there any way to buy video footage of the event?

Instead of driving buy a plane ticket. Although you wont have your car you will still have the time of you life. Need to do it atleast once man. Worth the money.

Car is under the knife, getting ready for shootout. Will probably miss friday, but will be there that night.

It wasn't a coincidence, last year I was stationed in California for the marines. I made the drive from Socal alll the way to Ohio and back.

Now that I did my time in the corps, I moved back home to tx. That's why I will be coming from Texas this year. Even with it being a few states closer this time, it's still gonna take me 22+ hours one way just to get there. But if I still lived in Cali, I would be going that distance again for sure.

So stoked... I'll be there Friday afternoon whether I am driving the mustang or the DSM. That is still up to the DSM to decide.

Please don't bring a mustang to the Shootout man.

Two weeks and well over a half a dozen cars still to get ready....not including my own.

I'll be staying at the hotel 6 so stop by and say hi.

I'd really like to make it one of these years, but unfortunately it's not going to be this year either :(

If you do not own any type of business or shop or make money typically selling parts then it is no problem selling used stuff out of the back of your truck or pit spot, so swap meet style is fine. IF you have a business name you have to pay a vendor fee, if you are selling a bunch of new stuff and LOOK like you are business you have to pay a vendor fee.

QUICK 16 (Q16)-Sponsored by Kiggly Racing
-Qualifying at 7pm Saturday, Sunday at 10 am and 12 pm.
-Heads up. Anything goes as long as it is 4G63/4G64 powered. NO tube chassis cars. You MUST qualify at one of the qualifying times to get on the ladder.
-On your windshield you will put in large print, Q16 followed by the number from your tech card. This is your class/car number for the day.
-Any one who doesn't qualify can can move to another class their car is LEGAL to run in.

i could swear that i saw "as long is power by 4g63/4g64 or powered by Mitsubishi's engine" somewhere. Did you change this recently? Can i be in it or not?

The rules for Quick Class has not changed. It's too late in the year to change them although had you asked months ago I would have allowed it.

i know is not your fault it was my for not paying attention to the rules for some reason i thought the Q16 was for any powered Mitsubishi engine.
Either way i can't drive 12 hours just for a test and tune. hope you guys have fun and some records will be show at the event. I would try to pay more attention to the rules next year.:)

Thanks David

You know I thought about it and I don't know why I wrote it the way I did. As long as the car has a shootout legal engine it, which is listed in the rules, I see no reason not to let it run in the class. So bring the car down, I'd like to see a fast 3S! You are LEGAL!

This is great news , thanks David

Nice! I can't wait to see a 9 sec 3000GT VR4 on the track! Thanks for going, and thanks Dave for letting him run it! :thumb:

Good to hear! I would have loved to have seen your car run! Post up lots of pictures guys!

SlantedJ, i'm counting on you to bring the shootout to the internet in all of its glory for those of use that can't make it this year. (I hope you are reading this!)

I hope Dsport magazine gets alot more coverage then last year.

Unfortunately I had to choose between watching the racing at the shootout without my DSM or EVO or actually racing my Evo in a local autox where I am barely holding on to a first place lead in my rookie season. It was not an easy choice but my competitiveness took over and I will be racing here in El Paso. I have been to 3 shootouts since my first one in 2004, they are always a blast and I'm sure this one will be no exception. That is why we that can't make it are going to NEED lots of pictures and videos of the action!

Ahhhh.... I see. I too was wondering why you wouldn't make it, but now I understand. Good luck in holding on to first place in the autox.:thumb: I'm sure there will be plenty of pics and vids going around of all the Shootout action, so don't worry about that.

Y'all have seen my coverage of the shootout from last year right? I took nearly 1000 pictures and videos of every car and pull on the Dyno =) I take very good coverage I'm my opinion =)

I like taking those hard to get launch/squat pics =D

We will be pulling into Norwalk Friday morning and staying the weekend at the track.:thumb:
