I was hacking away to make room for fmic piping. I knicked wire or two but none of them cut completely through, started it up to test it out and I notice my break light was on, and the battery signal come up on the dash. It was dark when i started it up, when I turned it on, all dash illumination was gone and no headlights. The only things that worked were just signals (Front left, front right, rear right and rear left. What did I short out?:ohdamn:

If the battery and brake light on the dash are on than you cut one of the alternator wires. Pull the harness cover off and see what you cut. By knowing that you have cut wires and just hooking up the battery is asking for a fire or frying electrical components.

Yeah I never even thought I was going to need to disconnect the battery when I was just taking the bumper off. I exposed a good amount of wire and looked for any tiny thing and the only one that looked like it needed some help, was the red wire coming off the loom by the alternator. I redid the connection, put some e tape around it and it still wont work.

Why does the battery light come on when it's an alternator wire? It starts and drives fine, and still nothing to explain the headlights being off. I've had a blank odometer for the last 16k miles, all these lights are new.

You probably nicked the wire for the dummy light on the dash that goes to the alternator. That would cause the battery light to come on. Also, if you nicked the source wire, it will shownthe alternator isnt performing properly and the battery light will come on. Ever drive with a failed alternator? Airbag battery and brake light always come on.

The headlight wires are in the same harness as the alternator wires so you likely cut thru either the headlight ground or the power wires also. Do some more investigating under the wire loom and verify that there are no more cut wires.

Nothing, took it all the way to my ABS and To my air filter, nothing but a couple minor knicks, not even going to metal.
