eBay? I have 6k it's white with a tiny hint of blue. Just know they are illegal on your car

SharpHID is a vendor here and has great prices.

Bulb size for stock headlights is 9006

So i just purchased the raptor hid 35w h4 bulbs and 8k is that all i needed for my 2g

If your using stock headlights then you ordered the wrong size bulbs.

You need the headlight housing made specifically for HID's to take full advantage of true HID lights. It's also illegal buying HID bulbs for traditional housing's, as mentioned. Theres more info on the net about how to properly set up HID's.

I have the 5k pure white 55watt from DDM and have no regrets!

Awesome. Another blissfully ignorant driver buying something that looks cool but is totally unsafe. 8K? Do you even know what that means? More 'K' refers to the light temperature and in all actuality, the light output (measured in Lumens) goes down as 'K' increases. Halogen and HID lights are two completely different light sources. You get HID bulbs, you need the housing to reflect the beam correctly. Halogens get their own. Engineering baby. It's like putting on someone elses glasses, well yeah, they'll fit. Nothing going for your vision though! THESE exact kits are what are illegal. This crap blinds opposing drivers and makes accidents that much more prone.

People who use these conversion kits literally only see a difference and think it's better than traditional halogen. If using real HID bulbs and the correct housing, it makes all the difference.

One of many-

Thinking of converting to HID?

I'm glad someone here has some common sense and/or did a bit of research before just throwing some garbage on their car. "Pure White" is 4500K. Anything above that and you're reducing your light output and increasing glare to look "cool". Every time I see someone with 6K and higher lights I want to follow them to their nearest Dunkin' Donuts hangout spot and punch them in their eyeballs to make them feel the pain I do looking at their ghetto trash headlights.

The only way to properly upgrade your lights to HID is to retrofit an HID specific projector (which DOESN'T mean the cheap eBay packaged "projector" lights) into the housing.

If you do anything less you look like you're trying way too hard to make your car look like it's more expensive/newer than it is and you're being a nuisance in the process...:banghead:

Thank you DSM Vice, NHerron and MicroDSM... it's nice to know there are at least a couple of others out there that actually care more about driving and seeing the road at night then looking 'hellasick'.

Let me tell you what I have learned from my experience with people doing HID conversions on headlights that were not designed for them... first they don't understand that lighting up the sky does them little to no good. No matter how many ads say 5K is pure white it isn't. A good set of SilverStars in clean headlights will give you more usable light then any HID conversion of conventional reflector headlights. Period.

Give up and join the club and stop waiting your time. HIDs are cool... Rich people have HIDs... people will think they are being followed by a Ferrari or Porsche if you install them (they won't know since you are blinding them)... blue is cool (5K 7K)... purple is cooler (8K +). Not seeing the road is coolest... Street signs will be brighter. Not having high beams is the only way to go!!!

Seriously though... I'd say do the research and you'll understand why it's bad but I know none of you will...

These guys are exactly right with stating that a drop in HID kit is no good and will blind others more so than letting them see you so its not one of the greatest ideas...

But, that doesn't mean you should drop the idea. A properly designed HID Retrofit Kit is what you need to look into. When set up correctly, you will be amazed at just how much more you can see in the dark versus using standard Halogens.

Be prepared for A LOT of research and changing your mind on what Bulbs/Projectors to use multiple times. But in the end it is totally worth it...

Check out Examples of Headlight Retrofits from The Retrofit Source Inc for some examples of retrofits people have done. Also, check their forums because they will have all the info you need on any questions you have about HID's.

Good luck with it and here's a little retrofit inspiration for you to get the ball rolling....

Gotta love that spread and cutoff line :]

What about me :( I told him it was illegal

Well you did, but in the same breath you also said you're running 6K in the factory housing. I would suggest leading by example...

I have true retrofit 5k bulbs in TSX projectors, and it is by far one of the best 'mods' I've done to my car. Too many deer out here to not be able to see at night!

Get the morimoto projecter kit fom theretrofitsource.com.

Had it on mine, and it was awesome. It had perfect cutoff and looked a hell of alot better than those cheap kits, it looks very oem. Also very well built, I'll post a pic of mine from my accident, headlight got destroyed but the projector looks fine, just needs a lens because it looks scratched.

Apologies if I am mistaken but it seems LarryJoe bought the bulbs which fit into the OEM housing. And 12K? Damn. Blinded by the purple people eater himself (okay color temp isn't illegal but I couldn't resist)

The ones I mentioned come with the 'eBay' housing which is actually made for HID's

I think I see glare from the profile pic itself.
