The DL came with a 1.8L SOHC engine producing a whopping 92 horsepower. You can cut the aircan and put a K&N, get a cat-back exhaust, advance your timing and run premium fuel, maybe an underdrive pulley (if they still make them). Handling mods would be the same for any 1G.

Having said that, upgrading your current car simply isn't worth it.

This, but if you must keep it do suspension and brake and BPU and you could have a fun autox car

To the OP, I would consider upgrading to rear disc and at the same time going to the Outlander/AWD Big Brakes on the front. If you know someone with a welder or any local fab shops, have them make you a >functional< intake and exhaust. I would imagine the front suspension to be similar to all 1g's and rears might be the same as FWD turbo cars. There are tons of options out there in that regard.

Im forced to agree here.. modding a non turbo DSM isnt going to be very cost effective. Although you can do an N/T to turbo swap, the money involved is going to cost you the same as just getting a stock tsi. I say you keep that one for your daily driver, and save up for a 1g tsi. They are around, just gotta look for em.

Best bang for your buck mod.

Sell 93 DL
Buy 91-94 TSi (or TSi AWD)

LOL dont think so

so far iv done all new breaks front and rear i just ordered new coil overs for the front and back going to have to make new mounts for them though and as far as weight what would be some good things to take out also if any of yal have any pictures of self made intakes please show me and il make my own at our shop

also i can remember reading in the TECH side bout putting a turbo on a my N/T so my ? is if i was to do that bout what would you think it would cost and how much boost can i run without having to rebuild the bottom end. sorry if these ?s seem a lil dumb but im still learning as i go with these DSMs

Perhaps..... I always came in towards the back of the field in my class when I autocrossed mine. :coy: Then again, I only had suspension techniques springs, KYB GR-2's, and a suspension techniques front strut tower brace. I had the bare-bones model without power steering also.... It didn't have power locks, power mirrors, or power windows either.

I would consider upgrading to rear disc
all 1G's came with 4 wheel disc brakes

Header, intake
a header would need to be custom made because no one ever made one for the 4G37. I don't think there's an NT intake either. I just used a drop-in K&N, hacked up the aircan, and some PVC pipe and made my own.

Any 1G FWD cat-back exhaust will work, as will any suspension parts for a 1G FWD.

I had an Unorthodox underdrive pulley on mine, but not sure if they still make them.

The best performance upgrade, though, was getting a GS-T :p

He never stated any goals, so those who are saying "sell your car and get a turbo because doing anything to a non-turbo is completely idiotic" are completely out of line. I enjoyed my modded '90 n/a automatic Eclipse.
