All "my car won't start" discussion threads are merged HERE. We've basically made it easier for those who insist upon not searching by grouping together all threads from those with similar issues so you can just scroll through and see some possible solutions. To search for info within this thread, use the "Search This Thread" feature in the black bar about 3" above what you're reading right now.

Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.

I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

"found the problem it was the timeing belt had a buddie check it for me he said it was good i rechecked today belt is broke morle of the story allways check yourself thanks for the help guys at least i learnd a lil about my car after all this"

so your timing belt is broke, right? & you said it died while driving down the highway, right? IF the timing belt broke while driving down the highway, then i'm pretty sure you BENT or BROKE EVERY VALVE & maybe even poked holes in your pistons. You see, our 4G63's are interference designed rotating assemblies & if the timing belt breaks or jumps time, we can pretty well kiss our valvetrain goodbye, unless you get REALLY lucky. if what you're saying is true then i'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Today I took on the project of trying to install a innovate lc1 on my talon. I hooked up all wires according to this guide http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...21002-innovate-lc-1-installation-options.html. Once everything was hooked up I tried starting her up but all she would do is turn over. I logged in dsmlink trying to start it up so any help would be appreciated.

Well I resolved the problem just when I was really stumped i relooked over the wiring and saw the ground wire was connected for the sensor but I didn't connect the other end for the other sensors back to the ecu. Dumbass moment..... but resolved :D

Did you disconnect the battery?

Although it sounds silly but it could be LOL maybe a fuse has blown

Where did you put the sensor?

did you remove the stock sensor and wire it in that way?

also did you make sure to enable to narrowband simulation?

Mark the thread resolved so that people will stop replying to it.

Decided to swap out my old cracked gray dash for a black dash. Found these two extra harness anybody point out what they are for and where they go? They are on the driver side. Thank you in advance

Every one from hvac is connected.. Would these go to the back of the black fuse box above the clutch pedal?

The light colored one looks like its for your cruise/mirror connection. The black one, based on length, could go to fog lights (if equipped) or the fuse/relay box located to the left of your pedals.

Also, not to make an insult, but I see you got a turbo DSM... did you pull the black dash from a non-turbo DSM? If you did, did you swap the harness from your grey dash?

I am having a similar problem with my Talon. I have a 6 bolt motor and a 2 g head. I am not sure if I would need a 1G or 2G coil pack and maybe that would solve my problem or if I need to hook up my e-manage. I have not hooked it up yet because I wanted to get it running first. Now I am wondering if that is why I am not able to get my Talon to stop backfiring. I have tried so many different things and nothing has been able to help. I was wondering if you had the same setup. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I told people that I took Injectors from a non turbo and a Hyndai Sonata because it's the same motor but NOBODY here THAT knows so much could tell me that they wont work on a turbo.

This forum SUCKS.

I just read this entire thread (which took forever thanks to the ramblings) and not once did I see you mention anything about NT or Hyundai injectors. Why in the hell you would expect NT injectors to work in a turbo car is beyond me, it's extremely basic knowledge that turbo engines require more fuel. How it's the forums fault that you secretly swapped in ~50% smaller injectors is also a mystery. I would suggest doing a LOT more research before going any further with the car.

i have a 1gb coil pack attached to a 2g coil bracket there exactly the same but the brackets different , swapplugwires [ECMTuning - wiki] did you try swapping wires if u switched to a different ecu ? did you make sure your cas isnt 180 out ? to check put the motor at top dead center and see if the yellow dash points at the sensor, make sure your timing dead on ,also im assumeing you have the stock ecu in thae car do you have stock injectors? also what year ecu? i hope this helps ! :hellyeah:

Every little bit helps. Its good to see both sides of the story b/c it expands on all the sensors. Yes it tells him how to swap 1g head onto a 2g block, but a lot of the components are similar and gives a rough idea of whats involved. It is better than passing it up and not offering any help at all ;).

This link might also help a bit to explain the process. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/337210-what-needed-1g-block-2g-head.html

I've been reading these posts. My issue is no spark from the coils. Resistance on both coils check perfect. Power to the CAS and CPS. I've checked 10000 times for something disconnected, everything is connected. The engine was running when i pulled it to rebuild it. Getting fuel, compression, just no spark. Anyone that has some sort of idea what it could be or any suggestions please help me. I've been messing with this for about 2 months, I think I've got it figured out, then right back to where I started. I'm getting very frustrated.

I'll have to test it tomorrow it's dark now and I've gotten way to frustrated with it LOL. One thing I do know is the car it was in before obviously has a different wire harness. I'm also using the same ECU that was in the original car as well. Would any of this make a difference?

I have stock injectors and I have a greddy e-manage. I have not hooked up the e-manage yet because I was waiting to get the car started. I don't know if I have to hook up the e-manage first. I have run out of ideas in regards to what else could be causing it to backfire and not start

Ah different wiring??

Do you know if it's a six bolt swap or not? Easy way to tell is if it has a 1G style cam angle sensor similar to the picture attached

Defiantly a 96 7 bolt. I do have the wire harness out of the other car.

Ok so I did the test above in the link, 1&4 were bad. Had an extra transistor changed it out now still not starting. I haven't tested for spark yet, I'm the only one home at the moment. As soon as I can I will test for spark and get back to you. Thanks for the help and the welcome to tuners note
