Hey guys I have pretty bad strut tower rust on both sides of my strut tower basically near the fenders where it's rusted through. I was wondering if you could help me find a cheap repair shop or if someone could help me, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Here's a pic although it's not specifically aimed at the rust

I also have terrible strut rust, so if you find someone who does a good job on yours id appreciate the recommendation!

LOL for sure I called msptuned in addison and they quoted about 200-400 dollars per side depending on extensiveness of the rust.

Thats not bad at all! Ill have to check it out and summer roles around here. The junkyard by me wanted $300 to cut both out of a junker car. That wouldnt even include the cost of getting welded in!

Anyone come up with anything. This is my spring / summer goal to get mine fixed? I wouldn't be surprised if a lot more Chicago land dsmers would be interested in this because of all the damn salt they use out here.

Any luck finding any shops to repair strut towers at a reasonable price? I purchased a strut tower for the passenger side off another dsm'er and have it ready to install or use for the repair, but the shop I went to first wanted ~$1500, :notgood: I find it hard to believe there isn't anyone out there cheaper. I plan on moving to the boston area before the end of the summer and I want to get this done so I don't have to move the part. I'm going to keep looking around, but if anyone on here has more info or even an experienced DIY'er, I'd be willing to pay for the help or experience since I don't know how to weld.

Call em up and talk to these guys MSP Tuned

There about an hour away from you. Let us know what they tell you, im curious to know and im sure many others!

I wouldnt wanna drive all the way Boston with huge cancer spots.

I hope you guys can find a cheap place, because im doing it myself and it sucks- the metals to thin to easily weld making this thing suck. Oh and this is what a 'little' rust hole will turn into when you try to fix it.

For the drivers side I have a 'new' strut tower ill spot weld in, but as for fixing this..never again LOL ill buy a new tower..

Check it out! I got my 1 strut tower repaired for cheap but the hole was massive! I just had it done yesterday and honestly this guy is legit. He welded 2 layers as it's supposed to be done and I can't ask for more; he worked really hard to make it look as close to OEM as possible.

The craziest thing is that it was done by a Merkur Shop!

This is how my rust was at the beginning.

So he cut out the chunk of the rust; note how there are two layers of steel.

Cleaned the edges, sand and paint. It was a very long day and so it's kind of hard to see.

Honestly this is the best job I've ever seen done on the 3 eclipses I've had that needed a strut tower repair. In the past, I've used fiberglass and bondo, but now I know who I'll call when I have rust issues :)

PM me if you want to get in contact with my guy. He's located in North Chicago just fyi :)

My rockers are basically shit rights now, there is barely any of them left LOL. Other than that my car is pretty solid. I was going to be cheap and use foam filller to make shape and just put fiberglass on top, but if I can get a good weld for a good price I dont see why not. I dont care how it looks, the side skirts are going to cover it anyway.

Does anyone have the name of the guy "trinhbt" used to repair his strut towers? I have a 2000 eclipse GT that needs repair in the Chicago area. If anyone knows please help. Thanks

Hey sorry I haven't been on this site since forever!

It's a guy named Jimmy he works on Merkurs, but tell him you heard about him on DSMTUNERS and he'll hook you up hopefully - he's pretty busy.
