I just bought a Dejon big SMIC, was going to put it on yesterday, but couldn't find any way the brackets would line up to bolt it on. I can't even get the bracket to meet the frame while allowing the inlet/outlet to be in good position.

Am I missing something? Does anyone have a pic of either their Dejon or even a stock IC mounted up on a 2G? I'd like to get this figured out so I can use my new parts.

Well, damn. I guess I'll just see if I can make up a bracket to mount it. That's annoying. Unless someone can direct me to a larger side mount that actually bolts up...

+2 on where did you get that....I've been looking forever! Lol

It does look like its for a 1g tho....

Well, I'm guessing it is for a 1G as I couldn't get it to fit right for anything. Maybe if i cut sheet metal above it for the outlet, but I don't want to do that. The biggest problem was when I connected the outlet, the intercooler sits out too far and the bumper won't fit back on. Very disappointing.

Nice setup you have goin, PM'd

Well, I made it work. I had to cut a fair bit of sheet metal from above the IC then make a few brackets to help mount it as with one bolt lined up, none of the others did. Seems to work well enough. Still want to make a scoop for it, which should help improve its efficiency. Throttle response and low end are improved given there is less piping volume to pressurize. Lastly, and possibly most importantly, I was able to clear up the central bumper duct so the airflow goes straight to the AC condensor and radiator (and my auto trans cooler), which helps my car run cooler in this 90-100 degree weather, where previously my temp gauge was creeping up with the front mount.

Overall, I'm happy I was able to make it work, wish the manufacturers would still make the ones that actually fit, though.

I know I'm a bit late but, this is the 1g Dejon Big SMIC

I believe the one you have is an Alamo 1g aftermarket SMIC or possibly the really old Dejon 1g smic that was made out of two 1g OEM cores like this one (old 1g cores together).

If you want pics of the Dejon 2g Big SMIC, just check my pics, I have a couple that show install and fit.

Would've fit mine just fine, but congrats on getting it in :)! As already asked, where did you find it?

Bought it from another member on here

Hi Lurker,

I know this post is 10 years old.

I have a question of this pic of the 1G Alamo SMIC.
Did you own this SMIC or know who did?

Looking for one like it for my Talon.

Thanks,

You can try this one out, It is the same size as a 1G core doubled up. The end tanks are close to the same location as well.

Thanks for the tip, babyviper.

I should have said, 'I'm looking for an 1G Alamo SMIC' that I can bolt on.

My Talon has always been period correct, as I'm the original owner and bought it new in1993.
Not looking for the a good upgraded SMIC.
I'm looking for the first ones ever made for the 1G.LOL

Thanks,

**UPDATE***
Yea I know 1 1/2 years later
I did some deep searching on Facebook and found an 1G Alamo 12 row SMIC ver 2. (circ 1996)

Back in June of 2022 these are
pics of it at the sellers house, and then a pic of it on my car, literally.
Some pics of my stock 1993 SMIC next to the Alamo one.

If I had a 1990 Talon it would have bolted on. 1991-1994 have SMICs that have a different lower mounting bracket and lower inlet pipe angle. This new old stock 1G Alamo SMIC was clearly made for a 1990 DSM. Don't worry I'll make it fit.
