I just bought a 99Turbo Eclipse GST couple days ago. Everything is running good and just passed smog. After about 30 minutes of driving, I parked it and coolant started pouring out from the overflow. Never overheated and the mechanics just had it. Do you think they just put too much coolant or is it a bigger problem?

Also, I've tried reading the threads but I can't figure out if I have a 6 or 7 bolt engine. I'm trying to order an new engine oil dip stick and I just can't tell still after reading the thread. I think it's a 7 bolt but I just want to be sure before I buy it online. I thought maybe if I upload a photo I could get some suggestions.

I use to own an Evo, but I've never owned an Eclipse so I'm completely new to this. Thanks for the help. btw way i think its a 7 bolt..

I checked it now that is cooled off and it is low

Sounds to me like it might be overfilled. Check the level in the overflow when it's cooled down and see if it is overfilled.

It is impossible to over fill the engine with coolant. You fill the system, bleed all the air out and top it off. IT is possible that there is too much in the overflow, but not the engine. I would check the radiator cap seal.

How do i bleed the system ? Or should i just look online how to ? And thanks for helping me out

my car use to do the same when the thermostat was bad.

also sometimes it could be the headgasket is bad

Well i guess ill try and replacing the thermostat is that easy to replace ?

thanks guys for your help so many things to do and try out to get this fixed dont know where to start LOL if you guys come up with anything else let me know asap thanks again

I'd do a leakdown to be sure it's not a headgasket just to be sure. I had a head gasket crack and was leaking exhaust gasses into the coolant system. Good luck hope that's not what it is !
