hi everyone well i been having an issue every time i use the ac on my car it turns off and it gets really annoying i been trying to figure out what it is but cant seem to find out everything is connected correctly and no check engine lights. any help would be very appreciated thanks.

I have a similar issue in mine it doesn't turn off but when I turn on the A/C it drops my idle drastically and I was told that it is because there is too much freeon in it so do to the high pressure it causes the compressor to work harder causing a pull on the timing belt slowing it down.. Get it checked out there's nothing to loose ...Hope this helps

eclipse96dsm - A/C compressor is likely siezed and then stops everything from turning.

hector - Once your a/c is turned on a signal should be sent to the ecu that tells it to raise the idle, the only thing to much freon will do is make the a/c not work very well.

Had the same problem. My Biss wasnt adjusted properly. Simple as that. The ISC can aslo cause the engine to stall out when the ac turns on

well i know it has nothing to do with the ac compressor because im having trouble with idle to begin with. could it be possible that because my power steering cable is not connect it could do this?

update: can ISC,FIAV,CAS,or vacuum leak be the issue?

I'm going to agree that your compressor is likely going bad. Mine does the same thing, it doesnt always shut off but it sure struggles to stay on. Even with there being no freon in the system it still has a very diffiuclt time. espically once you add to the system.

You really need to check your ISC (idle speed control) motor. WHY? When your ac comes on the rpms drop due to the compressor running, the isc opens up just a little bit more to compensate for it, allowing more air into the engine to maintain its idle. Take it off, clean it with carb cleaner and clean it good i promise it'll help. Hope this helps:thumb:

gonna have to agree might just be your compressor. try draining the freon out of it and see how it runs or if it makes any diference...want the truth on fixing this? take it to a reputable mechanic and that should fix the problem!

update: the car only turns off when the ac clutch kicks in. i know for a fact that its not the ac compressor already got it checked. what can cause that? i checked the ISC seems fine had my buddy lend me his that works. and does the same thing.

Your idle just may be too low. I was going to say too much refridgerant but that will just shut the a/c off and not the engine.

How do you know the compressor is good. What does your car idle at with the ac off. Do you have access to a scanner to see what your ISC position is at idle.

EDIT: Have you connected any gauges to the car to see what your high and low pressures are?
