So I went to the track the other day and only managed a best of 14.6@94. This was launching off of the 2 step at 4500 rpm and spiking boost at about 22psi. I am completely confused as to what is going on. I ran a 14.3 at 93mph in my old eclipse (avatar pic) on a stock bottom end with a 14b @15psi... Any help or ideas as to what is wrong would be greatly appreciated.. Car also feels sluggish to me under part throttle and I have a hell of a time getting it up hills without downshifting and getting into boost.. BLT was just recently done, and it seems to hold 20psi fairly well. I'm attaching a log of a run I made.

I'm also having a boost creep problem even though I am running a Tial 38mm..

How is 11.0 rich? That won't make someone bog.. and timing seems perfectly safe for being on a 14B.

Well, just to make sure.. Does your wideband match up with your AFRatio Estimate?

Timing is the stock 1g map I actually lowered it a little in the upper rpms. It could use leaned out but I don't believe that it is so rich that it would cause me to run this slow.

It's a tad rich, and on stock timing, but the timing isn't inducing knock.

One thing you need to do is fix the coolant temp issue. You're losing a full degree of timing over 210.

LC1 showed mid 10s for the AFR.

I'm actually running an evo 3 16g. The 14b was on my old car. Yeah the WB factor is only varies by 5 % in some areas. I do need to tweak my mafcomp a little bit in some areas bbut it is very close to the afratioestimate

I did notice 98% IDCs at ~58 seconds. What's the base FP? Is your KS plugged in?

What's a KS? Knock sensor? Yeah it is plugged in. I have had cooling issues ever since I put this car togehter. It gets hot at very random times. I've tried a new rad cap, maybe I should try a new thermostat.. I am running out of injector because these delphi's don't flow worth a damn, however it isn't breaking up or leaning out up top so I don't see how that could be the problem... As for base fuel pressure, it is at 38psi

I was seeing 10.4 on the LC1 in that log.

Also his profile says 16g so i assumed evo3 16g.

You could also be running hot cause your radiator is old and clogged? possibly look for a new radiator or flush this one.

Edit: Who ever gave me negative feed back for saying OP was running rich... Wtf... I don't get it, because he was infact RUNNING RICH. Got a comment saying "if you dont know then dont post" clearly there was a 10.4 AFR so what gives and how was i guessing? I just said your timing "LOOKS" high never once did i guess anything. Even other members said your timing had horrid transitions.

Based on your WB, you hit 10.1:1 at one point, which is pig rich...and a lot of third gear shows AFR less than 10.5:1. Running the numbers, this lines up with the airflow and injector DC you are seeing.

Your airflow calibration needs quite a bit of work. You need to get your airflow calibrated so that you hit a consistent 11.0:1 (or whatever you have set in the DA table). Speaking of which, the max octane DA table needs to be smoothed out. There is no reason to run 10.5 in some cells and 11.0 in others, unless you are trying to tweak target AFR's in a small range of load/RPM.

You need more detail in your profile. What is the CR of those Wiseco pistons? That is one factor that will determine how much timing could be expected. Without knowing this, there is no way of knowing if you are running too much timing or not.

You really need to log a steady third gear pull starting from about 2500rpm through redline, rather than running through the gears. It's hard to tell for sure without boost being logged, but based on your airflow curve your spool looks slow for a E16g. Do you have a MAP sensor you can hook up and log boost with?

Your fuel trims are off (one by 7%). You really need to get off-boost conditions calibrated before worrying about romping on it.

BTW - You should always log battery voltage. ;)

The rad is actually a new punishment racing aluminum unit and only has about 5k miles on it. Basically everything in this car is new

Does it spit any coolant? Compression good on it?

I ran at the track all day on sunday but I haven't noticed a change in coolant levels. The bottom end only has 5k miles on it but I think I'm going to have to check the base timing and do a compression test on it because something doesn't seem right... I just don't understand how link says I'm flowing 41lb/min, yet I can't break into the 13's or even high 12's. The boost creep has me confused too because I'm running an external gate and I don't think that should be happening.

Im clueless about 16gs, but yea, im really surprised they can even flow 41lbs. I thought that was the very top of their range. ok, i just checked, either my link cals are way off or yours are LOL. At 23 psi on my 5858(quite a bit larger) i get around 42lbs/min of flow. Your making the same flow at less boost? Maybe like craig said, you need a map sensor or get your base airflow/rev figures in line. Or.... maybe im totally wrong

Yeah I do need to work on the upper calibration a bit because i turned the boost up at the track and that messed with the calibration a bit. I will work on smoothing out the DA tables. This is my first time using DA to tune.

Why do you think I need off boost calibrated more? I have run the mafcomp tool many times and my LTFT's are with +-3%

The pistons are the 8.3:1 Wiseco's so I would assume that I am safe with the timing I'm running.

No MAP sensor, but you are right it spools slow for a 16g and also creeps even though I have a Tial 38mm with a 14psi spring.

Thanks for all the help guys

Found the problem guys.. Base timing was only at 0 degrees and my hallman boost controller was adjusted all the way out (I thought this would just cause me to run on straight wastegate spring, but it was actually leaking air from the boost controller just putting 1psi in for a BSL). Still have a small boost leak at the throttle body shaft and at the fpr, but it spools up so much faster and harder now. Time for some tuning!
