I'll be pulling the engine from my 99 GSX tomorrow. It's my first engine pull ever. So naturally, I read as much here and in my Haynes manual as possible. I just finished reading the tech article on transfer case removal http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-drivetrain/224419-how-remove-transfer-case.html, something I will also be doing tomorrow. It's about all I have left that's connected to the transmission and engine. I don't have access to air tools at my house, is this going to be an absolute nightmare?

Attached pic of my transfer case, suggestions as to what to do with it once it's off?

Pry bar to port it off trans be careful tilt it yolk side up so u dont get gear oil all over u and it us kind of heavy especially when your on your back under car I usually put it on my chest and slide out

I use a breaker bar, an extension (for the top bolt), and socket to break all the bolts free. Then just a regular ratchet. The transfer case has splines from the trans going into it, so even with all the bolts off it won't fall on you. Once it's unbolted, slide it off the splines and lower it down, and let the driveshaft slide out of it. It's really not very complicated or difficult, just takes some elbow grease.
