Greetings:
I just finished installing a brand new transmission/axles/clutch/pressure plate/release bearing/battery, and starter, and it's cranking over very very slowly. In the AM its a little faster, but if it gets too operating temperature, and i park and shut down.. when i return,it spins over sickining(sp) slow, almost to where im amazed it was enough to fire the engine. I replaced, clipped, trimmed, and cleaned all the connections going to the positive terminal, and even tested the charging system and its all 100%, just slow cranking when its cold, and very slow cranking while it's hot.. Any thoughts??

-Thank You,.

My 95 gst would do the same thing. Of coarse this isnt what you want to hear but mine started like that then after a few days it got worse and once hot after 15 min ride the engine would die then act like the battery was dead. But when it cooled down it would fire right up. Well the next day it completely dumped it lost a main bearing and had been getting so hot it would lock the motor up to where the starter couldnt even turn over the motor at all even slow. I just thought it was a bad starter instead it was engine failure. Crank had purple marks on it from the heat. Hope yours isnt this but if you think it could be pull the pan and check the bottom end out.

gearhead: Yeah, i already replaced that..not with an optima redtop, but just a duplicate of the battery i replaced..

muddfisher:, yeah i hope its not the bearings, honestly, i dont beat it.. even with tons of mods, etc.. it rarely see's 6500rpm...who knows,i think im going to put anohter new starter in it, and see.. ###### get one of those optima batteries also...

4g63gst:Yeah, the new battery im using is a $35 special.. and those optima units are over $100 .... "i think..." but i will have someone jump me, or attach a jumper-box... if it starts easier... ill switch out to the best..

Take the starter apart and clean the carbon brushes, replace the bearings, make sure the case is clean.
