Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone has any input on where to find a decent eclipse to buy? I don't have a problem paying a lot (5,6, even 7K) for a decent one, but I just can't find anything that looks like it's worth that price. Any tips? Thanks!

Classifieds on this site... ebay.. craigslist... autotrader(bit pricey).. dsmsource.com. Ask the seller tons of questions, see if there adult owned and how they drove it(raced, or daily). Ask for maintenance history.

I search craigslist every day all up and down the East Coast and as far West as Ohio. I'm located in Virginia. I don't mind driving a long distance if it's worth it. And any I find that look like great deals are all automatic. One of my only requirements is that it's a 5 speed.

+2...depending where you're living you can find some really good deals, here they are very rare to find and not cheap. Just make sure to look at every detail when you check it out and take pics of any doubt you have, here on tuners we'll be glad to help. Many people beat the hell out of this cars and after messing it up, decide to sell it and lie about everything. Good luck.

Good luck! You gotta be careful. They are ussualy beat and people want to much for them :( I literally had to get mine across the country. Came from Oregon and I'm in pa

Did you have it shipped?

You looking for 1g or 2g?

Go auto, you won't regret it. Holding boost while it shifts is enough to make it worth it

I can't. I've tried many many times to consider going auto, but I just can't. I have my heard set on a 5 speed.

I got an amazing deal on a DSM but it was an auto. I simply couldn't pass up the car so I'm just gonna swap a 5 speed in there as it is not my daily driver and I can afford for it to not be runnin. Perhaps you could do the same.

I'm just concerned once I get started with it I may be in over my head. I'm not worried about having a DD, I've got another vehicle as well as friends so that's no big deal.

That's the spirit ;) Besides, I know too many dsmer's who have had their car down for a minimum of 2 years during the rebuild. It's inevitable with a dsm.

I have a laundry list of work to do to my own but I only pull it off the road for a weekend at a time here and there. I enjoy driving it too much and I am never home enough to truly enjoy it. Silly military sending me away....

Well I just looked into a tranny swap a bit more. It actually doesn't seem too bad at all. The only things I worry about are:

1. Cost. Does anyone have an estimated cost for me to do a full 5 speed conversion?

2. Cruise control. 1 tutorial said the cruise control won't work after doing the swap. Any input on this?

I've been looking at parts and everything involved at I figured it could be done for about 1k bucks give or take; assuming you do everything your self.

Honestly, cruise control doesn't work all that well on a modded car in the first place. How bad do you really want cruise control?

Just keep a eye out, I live in Ohio and I found my 1997 GSX in cincinnati off craigslist

There is a nice 1998 in Dallas on Craigslist for 7.5k it's a 5 speed too.

Even if you go auto and do the conversion you can always sell the auto drivetrain and make your money back.

Lately there have been alot of people switching to auto for full on track cars.

Ya that's a good point. With the recent auto craze I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be very interested in all the auto parts.

Well I found one at a dealership, but he wants $13K for it! That's ridiculous. I guess I'll just keep looking.

Get what you want. Wait for one to come up that meets your requirements. I waited forever for my gst, but I love that car. It was exactly what I was looking for. Just keep doing what your doing! Good luck!
