im interested in the hatch as well. Are you going to offer it with the speedglass window?

Are these going to be a cf skin laid on top of a fiberglass structure, or 100% cf throughout? I'd like to have someone make full cf pieces for 2g's.
You know how expensive that would be? There's no way you'd get enough people for a group buy. You'd have to have someone make them custom for you. There's a reason why full CF without fiberglass reinforcement isn't available. It really only makes sense for people who have tons of cash to spend or those who can do it themselves - which is why you haven't seen it in the DSM community.

What are the rear hatch glass options for a 2g? I know FAL makes molded rear glass replacement for the 1g, but not the 2g. It looks like the best option out there too.

Looks like they'd make one though if we got 10 people to pony up and got them 2 original glass pieces to make the mold.

So you can match it with the factory paint?.... haha. Stop being cheap, you can always paint match a CF hatch.

So why pay he extra $$$ for carbon just to paint over it? It's not being cheap. If the option is there, which would you choose if you were planning to paint it? Smarter way of doing it if you ask me. My cheap ass has the VIS carbon hood and hatch for quite a while now but I'm over the carbon look and would like to have them repainted one of these days.

Also forgot to mention that it's less work for the builder and cost less in the end. It will probably be easier to prep for paint too.

The main principal of using CF is for strengh and weight savings, not looks

IMO... Dry carbon looks way better, Function>Looks. Why? Because race car. (sorry I had to LOL

I for one have always painted my CF body panels.

I'm 99% sure Percy's speed glass is available for the 2g hatch.

I can make it 5 layer cf for you it will cost around $900.00 :) :thumb:

I don't know all the details of cf construction. I was referring to the entire hatch though and not how many layers of cf it is. Every cf piece I have seen for our cars (and most others), has only the outer layer(skin) in cf. The inner structure has been made up of fiberglass. From being in the autobody world, I know the inner frame of a door, hatch or hood is what weighs the most-by far. It makes up the majority of the weight. Is is possible for you to make the ENTIRE hatch, hood or door from cf?

It looks like you did a great job on this hatch and I'm not knocking it in any way. I have just been looking for someone to make full 100% cf pieces for our cars for years.

How much would you save? 1 pound maybe 2? I know CF is lighter but for double the price it's not worth it. OP says this hatch weighs 8-10 pounds that is huge over the ~30 pound stock hatch (no glass).

Like Luda Sid before the cost out weighs the benefits.

When will some pics be posted up of the hatch mounted and the 2GB Talon spoiler? Could you post some pics of it mounted up so I can see how well it'll contrast with the black top.

Full cf hatch, doors, and hood savings can really add up. The difference in weight also varies greatly on the method used. Two 10 lb inner structures both made of fiberglass can have an easy 2 lb difference by themselves...hand laid or chopper. Will it be more expensive-of course it will. I'm simply curious what the OP wants for a full cf piece.

Just as important as the quality of the material you use, is the change in weight distribution F/R and as important the center of gravity, whether adding a gigantic turbo in front of the front axles or relocating your battery to the trunk/back seat floor. I'm sure wise-man could chime in more effectively on the subject, but it is understandable in a basic way and then becomes nearly abstract for me in advance thought...Anyways, its great that this community still has such clout that large scale companies and "boutique" shops cater to most everything needed.
Well done CFeclipse.

Im in for the group buy on thr hatch and on board on a group buy on the FAL molded plexiglass.

When will the 1g popups be available

I will start the GB on the pop ups next week.

Will there be a chance the hatch will be available in just fiberglass so I can match it up with the factory paint? I will sign up for the GB if that will be an available option. Thanks!

I want those 1ga pop up head light covers!!! I need a new hood and a cf oem style hood is just as cheap as stock oem if I were to have it painted. But, I don't want a cf hoof if I dont have matching head light covers.

price for 1gA Pop up covers and if there is a hood for the 1gA I need prices.

nice work

Do you plan on making more 1g parts fenders doors hatch would be something I'd really be intrested in buying
