no way in hell...

After seeing that yours is a non turbo it wouldn't be that bad of a trade. The jetta is worth around 3800, your car is worth about 1800-2000.

But then again... why would you even bother posting that sort of decision on here???

Lol zack.
Think about it like brian said, the eclipse is worth no more than 2k, the jetta is worth no less than 3000.

The smart thing to do is trade->sell-> buy a GST/GSX :)

If the op decides to keep the jetta, then be ready because they are expensive to fix LOL.

I have an mk4 gti atm. Its pretty reliable, BUT DO NOT BY A VOLKSWAGEN AUTO. Do not do it dude they are a nightmare just google search. Stock mk4s handle like crap and arent very fun to drive, my 1.8t has a chip exhaust and bushings coilovers etc and its actually fun. Before that not so fun.

Automatic volkswagens are nightmares. Volkswagens in general are nightmares. We have more of them at my shop with transmission issues than anything else. I used to be into them and owned 1 mk3, a cabrio and a 93 passat vr6. Theyre a pain to work on. Just my 2 cents.

oh wow.. Thanks a lot guys. Yeah i kinda dont wanna let go of my dsm.. im not trading it.

Jetta repair parts are waaaay higher than dsm parts fyi. I wouldnt trade even though i LOVE vw's. Unless it was a tdi, no way.

There are very few VW's I'd ever own. Old school Baja Bug, newer Jetta TDI, or an R32...other than that save the headache of expensive repairs. From the pic you posted your Eclipse looks pretty clean and as long as you keep the maintenance up it should be good to go for a long time.

To the OP I think your DSM looks pretty nice.. I don't know how it runs or if there is anything wrong with it but if you're looking to trade and keep the jetta..most likely you will be in for a lot of headaches..especially if you don't have vag com.. If you don't know what I'm talking about you're in for alot of headaches.. I flip VW/Audi's and that jetta should be easy to get at least $3000 out of if it is in decent condition. With only 103k miles though it is possible the timing belt was never changed they are known for the tensioners going bad and the timing belt slipping and that would equal bent valves. It would be a good trade if you wanted to make money and sell the jetta, probably not a good trade if you are looking to have a reliable car unless you know alot of VW/Audi's, so I say stick with the DSM.

In which car would I feel sexy and ready to transport some chicks? Uhhmm..dsm ftw

Dude chicks HATE DSM's. I brought home so many girls and they see my DSM parked outside and they go wow that car is really nice. It looks really fast. I go thanks, then take them for a drive.. Then I get, why is it so loud?, why don't you have a backseat or a trunk? What is that weird humming noise coming from the back? Then they just get annoyed when you are on the side of the road for whatever reason. But I will say it is fun to watch the looks on their faces when they say let me see how fast it is and you do a 32 psi 3rd gear pull on the highway and they are screaming for you to slow down. :D Then you hear. "I'm never getting in that car again" Hahaha
