Hey guys last night I was driving around after work and the car was running great. I got to red light went to pull out and it hesitated like it had 2 bad plugs. But it was driving ok until I'd get about half throttle and it would just shake and wouldn't go past about a pound of boost. Now today I can't even rev it at all without it seeming like its not getting air or fuel. Turbo spins very easily and almost no shaft play. So what could it be?

Car has front mount eBay 16g and a couple other little things I didn't install.

Boost leak maybe or bad MAF ? Also check your coils, spark plug wires. I had that same issue one time but I can't remember what exactly it was but it was something to do with the ignition. Hope this help!

If the turbo is fine and you are not generating boost it could be a boost leak. Check all your couplers on the intake and intercooler piping and make sure they are tight. A boost leak would make your car run really bad if it is a big enough leak.

If all your couplers are good search the forum 'titles only' for 'boost leak test.' You can make your own tester and find out exactly where the leak is and fix it...

After you do all that and you still have the problem we will need a little more details to try and diagnose, and I am sure someone who has had or seen the problem will chime in...

EDIT: 4GTSiman beat me to it LOL

sounds like u lost a sensor. On my 95 tsi I lost a ground and my MAF ECT and TPS thorugh a CEL, It acted the same way, after I fixed the ground she came back to life, ohm out the sensors and make sure u have a good ground.

All the wires were arching last night so i can check the plugs and all the piping to eliminate most of that?

Check injectors too. Without a WB its hard to tell for sure if its fuel or spark. Spark is more likely the problem

Have you checked your ALL your timing marks to make sure they align properly?

No I haven't never done it before how hard is it

What ground do I need to check?

easy way is to unplug your ECT-Engine coolant temp sensor and ohm out terminal 2, your MAF, IAT, ECT, TPS, all use the same ground. if the ground doesnt exist tap the line at the ecu and make ## ground, Ill check to see what pin it is for you

Pin 92 on your ecu.

Have you checked the tip end of your plugs? I had the same issue and two plugs had lost their tips under a predetonation. I'd suggest you do that much of a check, everyone said coils and such for me, but it turned out to be plugs. Start simple. Then work your way up.

Idk if I did it right but here's the marks

Well I did it according to a link on here and they lined up right on timing. So how do I test the ecu like you guys said
