The smoke isn't black or white. It seems grayish. It was night time when it happened so it was a little harder to tell. It only happened in 3rd and 4th gear under load. Like if I dropped gears. And got on it pretty good. It would start to smoke in the higher rpm. If I get off the gas it goes away. I poked around some but didn't see anything specific like this. This is the only time it seems to have happened. Turbo is a 16g. I posted something else the other day but somehow it has never showed up on the forum. So ill have to redo that one. I'm hoping someone e here will recognize this car so I can get a lil more background on it. Thanks for any help on this.

I am a bit new to tuner cars. So I am learning the lingo LOL. Thanks for the links and info. I should have mentioned. The exhaust manifold is cracked and a new one will be here tomorrow. I am sure this causes a large boost leak. Could this be the issue and the solution? get the new one put on and see how that fairs?

thanks again for the info and links. ill do some more reading.

smoke under boost sometimes indicates bad turbo seals but double check its not blue. sometimes it can look greyish or black.

Not confirmed yet. But I put on the new manifold today and it hasn't done it again since. I gave it plenty of opportunity... LOL
Once in a while My turbo is making a crazy noise. sounds kinda like when you suck a shirt into a vacuum while cleaning the house LOL Probably not a good sound.

Will get a FMIC from a member in a few weeks. then I have to track down a hood (mine flew off the other day) and a new drive shaft. LOBRO bearing? i think that's right. mine is shot along with both carrier bearings. so prob just gonna upgrade that as well. thanks for the responses time will tell.

could be running rich, could be blowby from bad piston rungs, bad turbo seals, head gasket, alot of different things. Compression/leakdown test is where I would start if your tuning is good. I would suspect a 16g on a side mount could possibly play a role in destroying things..
