I had a problem after my build with the castle plug leaking. I took it off and bought a new castle plug and a new o ring. Put everything back and it is still leaking just as bad as before. I torqued it down to 20 with the tool. I have heard of people welding them. Is that a good idea? it is a steady flow of oil leaking. Some opinions on welding would be great. I want it done soon.

You cant weld it- the pump case is aluminum, and the castle plug is steel. You need to look at the flange on the pump case and make sure the flange is flat, because if its not flat and has punch marks on it or is otherwise marred, the castle nut wont be able to tighten down flush with the flange to compress against the oring you will have a leak.

I have the oil pump off now.... I am tripple checking everything. it is all fine. the oil isn't just dripping out. I cannot seem to understand why it is. I got the plug a oring new from the dealer. I thought welding it may hav e stopped the problem. is there any other solution or reason why there is shooting out that much oil

are you sure that's where it's leaking? That's a pretty simple thing there.

yes I am positive. I don't have any timing covers and I can completely see it coming from there. Is there really that much oil behind it

Castle plug really doesn't do much. You sure something isn't cracked? Look at how it all goes together. I'm assuming it's all clean and you can pinpoint any leak easily. If not clean it up and take another look.

I cleaned it very good. I can cleatly tell. I mean there is no doubt it is leaking from there. are 6 bolt and 7 bolt castle plugs different

I hope you mean 20in /lbs

if you over tighten that castle nut it will spilt the case and leak ask me how I know.
cause I over tightened the castle nut and ruined a brand new oil pump. check out this pic you see that hairline crack right behind castle nut it's tough to see but yup ruined oil pump from over tightening the castle nut .

Isnt there a seal behind this castle plug? Could that not be leaking

WOW! man thanks for that pic. I checked mine out and and i have a crack right next to the castle plug. I previously only did a little more than hand tight. It was still leaking bad so i went tighter. I ended up at like 15 ft lbs of torque at the end. Looks like im buying a new oil pump. RESOLVEDD! thanks everyone for the input
