So doing this will allow full use of my headlight up/down switch, and will also keep my foglight function?? Foglight function is critical, as 90% of my lighting comes from my fogs.

Yes

Also, could you give a brief description of where these wires are inside the car? Thanks!!!

The chiclet and its wires (#2) are behind a plastic cover on the right side in the passenger foot area (next to the foot door light). You have some pics on this thread. And I'll put a schematic so You can see it.

For the #1 wires You should follow the harness coming from the light switch on the steering column area.

Also, this may be a bit of a noob question, but I'm guessing the letter abbreviations next to the wires designates the wire color. Is this correct? If so, what would "GW" be? Green and white? I am by no means a noob when it comes to electronics and schematics, but I dont deal with automotive wiring diagrams very much.

Yes it's the color code.

Look at that schematics:

yea you can use a regular diode in place of the chicklet too or just remove the one pin. i don't like to leave wires just hanging or disconnected so i just cut a lead on the diodes. ha damn what kinda fog lights do you have that do 90% of your lighting? i wouldn't follow the color codes, but rather the numbers for what pin they are on the connector.

My main headlights are HID's, but I leave them down because they are too bright for oncoming drivers. My fog lights are true HID projectors, and light the road like crazy, but have a perfect cutoff so as not to blind everyone on the road.

I plan on using the 'pop-ups' as the high beams :hellyeah:

Pics please. :D

Without projectors: hardly any light at all... less than the stock sealed beams!! But, it makes the car look like it has headlights in the normal location, so I leave them on.

Can barely seee!!!

Now, lets turn on the REAL lights!! In this picture, the camera is above the cutoff line, so the projectors don't look any brighter than the 'fake headlights'.

This picture is taken AT the cutoff line, notice the blue-ish purple-ish tint. This is why you see HID's flash blue and purple in your rear view mirror, because you are catching the very edge of the projected light.

And this is below the cutoff line, just BLINDING 4300K white light.

It's a pretty neat setup, but I need some pop-up high beams!! :D

pretty cool setup man!!

that is pretty neat, would you share what your setup is (manufacturer?) i'm interested in making my fogs HID.

pop your hood and on top of your headlight motor is a red cap used to wind your lights up and down.
hit the motor switch on the dash so they're up and then wind them down to where you want them.

Guys I have a doubt.
Does Our 1G's turn on a buzzer alarm when we leave the head light switch on, take out the key and open the door?

Mine doesn't do any sound but I would say It did before. But I don't remember.

I've been looking at the schematics but doesn't find anything about that light buzzer (found the key reminder and seat belt buzzer schematic only)

Hey guys I've been trying to do this mod but I just can't find the d*mn chicklet ? My 1ga come from Japan so it's an EDM one ... Is it possible that I don't have this diode ? I even disconnected everything under the kick pannel and searched for about 1 hour and still can't find it ... :(

By the way EDM DSM don't have foglight, they act as flasher so that's why I tought maybe I don't even have this diode ?

Found the damn chicklet, well guess what ? I knew mine would be different since the GSR-4 don't have fog light but they act as flasher so I decided to take an other look and found this b**ch :D

Hey it's black not white and only 2 wires not 3 ... No mather why I wasn't able to find it ...

too many people asking the same question hopefully this helps. and make sure you undo any foam or tape around some of the wires to lacate your chicklet most likely if no one has touched it it should be taped to a wire harnes and difficult to spot

hey all,

was wondering if any body has one chicklet left over for me, because here in the netherlands the most cars have the black chicklet but I need the white one with the 3 legs on it for my Eagle Talon TSi. been at some graveyards here but nothing! getting desperate to get them to work properly.

And I know this is the wrong part of the forum to search for parts, but I can't open an own Wanted topic, cause I need 30posts. And I'm the person to just posts 30 b*llshit posts. mostly what I've been looking for the search function has answered my Q's so no need to post then though.

sorry in advance, but if someone would be able to help me out would be wildly appreciated!!!!!

greets from a very wet Holland,

Patrick Kooijman

You can make Your own chicklet by buying a pair of regular diodes (1N4007 for example) at any electronics store around.

Just connect them like this picture and You're done. (solder the two middle legs toghether and put the three legs on your car's connector.

I don't know what's wrong, but as D3monX i got a white chiller with 3 legs but only 2 wires (one is blue-yellow, the other one's green and something). Referring to Mikyrc's diagram i assume there are maybe just some differences in the chosen wire colours - though it's weird, because i own a 90 talon tsi US model (pretty rare here in Germany).

Never the less, when i pull the diode out (C-13 in the diagram) no lights go on at all the lights don't pop up either :(

So, did i do something wrong?

2.question: i am planning on adding the switch of #3 and asked myself if i have to do a bypass around the column switch - which sticks to the outgoing blue-white wire of he column switch - or if it's possible to connect the ingoing green-white wire from the column switch directly to the planned extra switch.

I'm absolutely unsure about how the bypass has to be done.
Thanks in forward

Very old thread. But the chiclet mod to be able to have your pop ups up or down with headlights on and still use your fog lights is super easy.
You will find this dead end plug with diode on passenger side behind corner kick panel, taped to other big connectors, if you can’t find it then keep looking, it’s covered most the way in tape.
Pull out diode “chiclet”, it can be a pain.
bend or cut off the right leg going to black wire.
The markings on the diode is-
Square and triangle on left is fog lights.
Square and arrows in middle is headlight + power when turned on.
Square on right is pop up motors.
So if you bend or cut off the right leg, it doesn’t send power to the pop ups automatically when lights are turned on, so they will stay down, but can still give power to fog lights.
no need to rewire your fogs.
Built if you want pop ups up, just push the button to pop them up then turn your lights on.
Just thought I’d reply to make it easier than it’s been made out to be.
No need to pull fuse, unplug motors, or crank by hand.
This my take 5 minutes to do.
Hope this helps a decade later LOL
