I have a 1991 eclipse gsx. I believe im running a 16g, if it matters. Just need some tips on size, brand, or anything else. I have some problems with manifold, so just trying to upgrade a bit. Anything helps.

Thanks

Stay away from the cheap tubular headers. A ported 2g manifold is more than sufficient for your turbo. You can get a new 2g manifold from rockauto.com for like 80 bucks.

Don't buy ebay headers. You can get a ported 2g Mani for 50 on here. You can get a forced performance for around 200 used. Tube headers are expensive. You get what you pay for. The cheapest I found that was good was dnp and that's 600. I had one custom made from redjackracing for 750.

I'd get a forced performance manifold. If I'm not mistaken, they are on sale right now aren't they?

Any specific vendor?

And OP, just look through the classifieds on here and type in "manifold" to filter the search.

Forced Performance was selling them for 175 shipped and I think the sale ends today. Better get it while you can because you will be very happy.

You won't be buying headers for a DSM. Our cars only have 1 head.

And if your car is actually a GSX then you don't even have a header (singular), you have a turbo manifold.

Get an FP manifold. They are the best bang for your buck. Many people run them on 500+ hp cars, and it will still work great for yours.

I just swapped out my crummy ebay tubular header that has cheap welds. Best is stock 2g manifold not 1g the 2g manifold is upgrade from the 1g manifold. The best bet if staying mitsu flanged is the fp exhaust manifold or a evo3 manifold if you really want. Also the 2g o2 is housing is better then the 1g o2.

1g manifolds are famous for cracking and leaking.
Evo3 manifold if you don't want to port out a 2g manifold.
Should be tons of used ones around.

If you must have tubular (some people just want them)
ignore the cheap ones or prepare to weld.

Id honestly go with the forced performance race manifold. Its not tubular, but it worked amazing for me. I loved the design, the fitment, and the quality. I wrote up a product review on it a few years ago. Well worth the money. (I just wish they made it in a t3 flange...) Im 100% positive you will like fp's manifold. (looks great too.) :thumb:

Im just not sure what bolts i need to put the fp mani on the turbo. It has bolts to buy on the website, but im not sure which ones i need. And will the fp mani work a 16g turbo?

The FP race manifold will work great with a 16g. You need two OEM turbo bolts (long) and 4 dome washers for the back bolts, and two OEM O2 housing bolts (short) and dome washers for the front bolts.

okay, so i saw that the fp manifold has gone back up to 275. Is there another manifold out there that might compare to the fp that isn't quite as much. I'm running on a McDonalds budget, if you know what i mean.

Thanks

McDonalds budget... I know what you mean. Worked there for over 5 years. If that's what your budget is go 2g ported. Its alot cheaper and I think I read that the fp manifold only added a few more whp over a ported 2g. I like mine fp manifold but if you can't afford it then i wouldn't even think about it unless you find one cheap.
