I don't know the appropriate section to do this in but move if it is in wrong please. Car is a 97 eclipse bought the car off my buddy with a blown head gasket. The friend is Straightedge, he has never drank or smoke he is 22. owner before that never smoked and the owner before that never has either. I know all of them very well and for years. Now I have completely swapped out interior, From Grey to tan leather, I have taken out the vents in the dash and im just stumbled. anywhere it could be hiding, It is extra strong when I turn air/heat on. But I mean this car was stripped to were nothing was in it at one point during interior swaps and I found no pot. Anybody have similar experience and found some in an odd place?

A skunk was keeping warm under the engine bay, owner came out to hop in... The skunk sprayed the undercarriage and engine bay. It's stuck in the firewall. Sounds far fetched but I imagined all of this as I read your post. Get underneath and try to sniff around. Maybe it really is a possibility? :barf:

Not far fetched at all. All sorts of animals will do this to keep warm and for a good hiding spot. But then again you might want to search the car and maybe you will find a nice stash somewhere...

I've seen many vehicles with this problem/smell. It's often times caused by mold and mildew in the evap core and blower box. There are a few products available to spray in your vent system that will kill the mold and eliminate the odor. I use bg frigi fresh. Not because its more effective than any other product just simply because our dealer has a contract with them.

unless there is a huge quantity in the car somewhere. chances are its not weed.

Take a cup of coffee grinds in water and leave them in the car for a bit. It masks the scent of weed. Id rather have a car that smelled like Decaf than a car that smelled like an "occupy wallstreet"

It doesn't take much to stink up a small space like a car. A gram of good weed would be plenty and could easily have been tucked into a crack or vent by a nervous passenger. However without a sealed container it would gradually disappear as it dried out. Since this seems to be an ongoing problem I'm guessing its not weed. Did you ever notice the smell when your friend owned the car or is this just since you bought it? Have you asked any of the previous owners if they ever noticed it?

thats what i was getting at. unless it was a large quantity, the smell would fade away pretty quickly in my experience.
