Hey guys

So again I need your help.

Im about to buy the FP racing manifold for my 1g, and everybody says its a good manifold and everything but they also say it heats up a lot.

Is that true?
will that be bad for my engine?
Or should I just go for a simple EVO III manifold?

thanks

Get this manifold or I will slap you :tease:
go with it. Just get it coated from Fp or send it out to Performance Coatings
And get their coatings on it.
JMFab also has a heat shield for this manifold so seriously you will be just fine
:thumb:

its really nice manifold to compare other cast iron manifold , like SBR , EVO III , etc .
you can coated your FP manifold plus use the heat wrap with JMF heat sheild , then i think that you dont have worry about the heating problem .

i bough $425 mine with black coated but the new GB price is really worthful .

good luck!

Yea that manifold is awesome. The coating really makes it look nice as opposed to a rusty old evo manifold. And it wont crack like all the tubular ones! I'd love to get one myself but cant justify spending the money when I know I'm not flowing enough for it to really matter.

FP definitely makes a top notch product and I will consider one of these manifolds if I do stick with a dsm flanged turbo.

Hey guys
I just oredered the FP manifold, and I already got a UPS tracking number from it.. it should be here on the 25th.
=D

I got the uncoated one, If I have heating problems, Ill get a heat shield later for it.

thanks guys.

Hi tuners!
I really want to get the fp manifold too for my 96 gst, but how different is if I don't coated it, wrap it, or if I don't get the shield the cover the manifold? I wont gain any hp, I wont fill any difference?
If I buy the fp mani can I reuse my stock bolts or I need new ones?

I have stock turbo, Megan racing o2 housing, 3" down pipe, 3" cat back system, after market intake and bov.

I don't race but I want my car faster little by little.

May I ask where I can get a 3 FOOT downpipe and catback? I've only seen 3 INCH ones.

Sorry I'm bored at work. LOL

I hadn't noticed :p LOL

Stock turbo? Not worth it yet man. Wait until you upgrade from that little hairdryer :p

Yeah that's helpful..

The point of ceramic coating the manifold is to keep the temps down under the hood. If I were you I would spend my money a little different considering your mods, like a 14b.

Good choice, and in case you didn't know, the EVO III manifold is definitely not the greatest idea for almost everyone because of how far it moves your turbo over. (towards the alternator and power steering)

I am also planing on buying the manifold only running a 14b charger at the moment but have a buschar racing charger that will fit a mitsu flange manifold.

The fp manifold flows better than the 2g manifold, I don't know if it will be a noticeable difference with your set up though.

You can reuse your stock bolts, but I would purchase a new set, check out www.ssstuds.com .

I understand, but I think I have to start from the cheapest part to the most expensive one. So don't you think if I get this manifold (fp) now it will work later with a big 16g turbo?

One of the best manifolds to go with imo, as for coating just about any coating will wear off in time, even my ceramic coating is starting to come off after a year or so.

No need. Im running the manifold without wrap or coating right now. My air engine temp are a little above normal.
Plus I have an intercooler and haven't seen any spikes in intake air temp, radiator, or coolant. Logged on evoscan.

So do I need to wrap it? or buy the shield?
What happens if I don't wrap the manifold or I don't buy the shield? the heat will hurt the engine or some like that?
thanks!!!

All it does is reduce heat, plenty of people like my self running 500hp+ setups as daily drivers and most of us don't run with heat shields or manifold wrap or coating, it's not really a big deal unless it's melting you're radiator fans, which it wouldn't be.

Not sure if the OP was referring to his manifold studs, or the turbo bolts, but you most definitely have to order two Evo turbo inlet bolts to run this manifold, you can only use two of the factory turbo bolts.

You should be fine just as the manifold is, but if you want more security you can go to your local Auto Store and pick up some VHT High Temp Header Paint. VHT FlameProof™ Coating will withstand temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C) and is ideal for use on headers, exhaust systems, or wherever an extreme temperature coating is needed!

I ran the manifold on my 2g 6 bolt with a gt35 on 35 lbs and on last track day was hot lapping it because if the car went i was rebuilding it anyway. Not to digress but I had no issues DDing it with that turbo or hot lapping all day. Its a sturdy setup. If you want to be safe definitely coat it. But if you aren't going crazy no need.

For a 16g stick with a 2g or an evoIII manifold. The fp is a good manifold, but you will see no gains with a smaller turbo.

So If I get the VHT FlameProof™ coating will help keeping the temperature down, or for the peeling, or both
Thanks for all you help!!!!
