So I picked up a type S knockoff for dirt cheap. Supposedly it's from the Punishment FMIC kit. I read on here to do the single spring mod, so I went ahead and did that before even installing it. So the way my setup is now (which is how I got the car), it has a long route FMIC setup to where the stock SMIC was ran, and hooks up to the stock piping below the turbo intake filter, meaning the flattened stock pipe is still installed.
My 1g BOV had a decent sound, but when I installed this new one, it is extremely quiet. I'm not looking for some crazy loud BOV, I would just like some tone. Is this possibly because of the stock UIC piping?

No to make you sound stupid but did u hook it up backwards? Haha my buddy did on his 3000gt almost made me piss my pants LOL

Get a hard UICP and recirculate the BOV to a metal intake pipe and you will get your sound that you are looking for. Screw that knockoff BOV and put the 1g BOV back on anyways.

Well I adjusted the screw on the top as tight as possible without flutter. It makes a sort of whoosh sound which I do like. If I shift at low boost it whistles very faintly. What exactly makes the Type S whistle anyway?

Post pictures if you can, if it doesn't make a sound (although it should) you might have a boost leak somewhere... Spray it with soapy water while the car is running. Check for any bubbles.. Good luck

This is how it's set up now. The strange thing is, when I installed that Dejon, the other BOV lost pretty much all volume too. When I had the stock pipe on it would scream. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Must be a leak somewhere along the pipe then. My bov got louder when I switched to metal intake with no other adjustments.

Well the spool is very loud and quick so I wouldn't imagine it would be leaking. It doesn't idle rich or anything so I know it's recirculating correctly.

I too am having this issue. I just installed a metal intake pipe and my bov went silent. The turbo spools just fine but my bov lost it whooshiness.I have a stock 2g valve waiting on my uicp to get here to uprade to my 1g valve on my shelf. Is the loss of bov noise normal or should I be concerned. It doesn't sound like compressor surge it is just really quiet.
