ok, after a long and grueling rebuild i came to the conclusion that i had done something wrong to make the engine not want to start. after that i went hunting through out the car and found out that someone had put in an alarm system and hacked into my female connector that allows someone to test the car for codes. do i need this port because it looks like someone decided to use those wires for an alarm and not for testing the car as it was designed. i might be able to find the wires under the steering column but if i dont and they are gone, am i screwed? what are my options as to this problem. also i think this is why my car is not starting, there was a toggle switch for this alarm and i think it is a sequence of things that are needed to get the car to want to crank. i am not getting any pulses in my injectors. injectors are good, just not getting electrical pulses to them

If you're not getting injector pulse I would start by testing the CAS and injector resistor pack. Either one or both of these being bad could stop the injectors from firing properly. Also ensure you have the resistor pack plugged into the right place. The iac plug and resistor pack plug are identical so its easy to mix them up if you don't pay close attention.

Your OBD interace being hacked up is definitely a problem. What you described sounds really odd, but if these wires were frankensteined and used for an alarm somehow you should do whatever you have to do to restore them to their original state. If cut, you 'should' be able to grab those wires further back under the dash. If you can, post a few pics. I'm curious to see what you have going on under there.

haha, ill post some pics. im sure some may cry, as for the previous owner or person who worked on this, i dont think they should ever touch a car again. the OBD interface is just sitting on the floor now because the wires that run to it i can not find. are they on the left side of the steering column or under the center console? like i said before there is no trace of them and i will see about getting the pictures once i figure out how to post them

Haven't seen the pics, for some reason they arent showing up. But tomorrow I will be working on my car, I will snap a few pics of mine and try to upload them. Hopefully that will help you out some.

ok, thanks. btw, i got my car to chug, runs rough and i think my manifold is cracked. maybe you might know but what would cause a timing belt to get eaten on one side. it seems to have slid to the side a little too much and rubbed too much. it is destroyed, not my engine though but i will be replacing it. just want some precautions to look for when changing the belt.

No prob man. What was stopping the injectors from firing?

The only reasons I can think of off the top of my head that the timing belt would be rubbing is an improperly torqued pulley or a loose timing cover, it can be a pain to get to some of those bolts.

Also, If your manifold is cracked, I have a stock manifold laying around. I'd be willing to let it go cheap. PM me if interested.

i found out why my belt got eaten, my balance shaft belt decided to crap out and break. it forced my timing belt around until it would snap. thanks for letting me know that you got parts. i do live down the street from the owner of dsmpartout.com so if he doesnt have anything i would be glad to see what you have. also the injectors were not firing because it was a loose connection. it is the 6 pin connector below the injector pack and just above the ac.
