On my way home tonight I lost both power steering and my alternator bolt on my 420a turbo eclipse???? I'm confused on how this could happen when the belts are separate. waiting on the car to cool down so if you have any ideas please share.

I would check to make sure all the pulleys are still on and tight. If you lost the harmonic balancer or water pump pulley, the belts would go with it.

+1 to above comment. Also if both those belts were old and on their way out one could have taken the other out.

anytime you lose 1 belt theres always the chance it will take out the other one. if you lose the belt on the inside it has nowhere to go but get caught under the other belt.

check your pulleys as someone already suggested, also make sure your alternator bushings arent bad. if the alternator is cocked to one side it can cause the belt to come off.

Thanks for the reply's guys! The problem was the AC washers were not put on right and the ac compressor was not aligned perfect with the harmonic balancer and caused the belt to fall off.
