Im looking for a easy swap. I have a aftermarket radio and want to get a stock one to replace it but i heard the 2G infinity ones suck, so is the 3G radio a direct bolt on in a 2g?

^^^^^^ and so does the 2g one. at least with the infinity system option. the thing is the 2g is wired parallel for those who dont have the option. i have hooked up a deck that came with the premium infinity sound option, but REMOVED it from the amp.. it works to confirm my findings as well as others as well as outlined by service manual that its wired parallel.

if you hook up the harness you will hear sound from door speakers and rear speakers, but not from the dash speakers because they are xover from the amp, but there is a hack/mod to make the dash speakers work.. this also serves as the work around when people install aftermarket decks.. and the reason why its a big topic always about why the dash speakers no longer work after aftermarket deck is installed.

i know the 2g audio system very well.

if the wiring harness is the same and you see the pins with the 3g, it will have the same effect as i mentioned with the dash speakers not working, but if all the 3g systems all run from external amp then yea they wont work, but i highly doubt that esp with the 00-01.

all the work you do to get to the point in changing the deck you might as well get any cheap aftermarket deck

so the stock 2g infinity premium radio ( one with the cd player on top) needs the stock amp to play ?
