Which one? I really cant decide, the FIC looks pretty good. I started dicking around with the oem while it was off the car, and I think it looks good now too. I killed the top casting edge. Hit it with a wire brush, some sandpaper, and a polish compound wheel. I made some mistakes (with grinding wheel at first, the worst is on the backside, the front ones 99% polished out) but Overall it is really clean.

I like them both for their own reasons. both are -6an.

How can I keep this aluminum rail looking good? paint it? clear coat it? I know its gonna oxidize... I dont want it to. primer then paint?

Do you own a FIC rail? If not and you don't plan on making like 400+hp I would keep the stock rail (looks good BTW:thumb:). If you are not planning to keep it polished then make sure you prep it real well, rough the surface up SLIGHTLY and paint it/powdercoat it the color of your choice. If you already own the FIC rail keep it and sell the 1g rail. Just my .02 :)

Thats the FIC as it sits in my car.

Would polished hold up well? or will it get funky after not too long?

I Shouldnt make over 400. Im gonna stick with a 20g for a while...

I kinda double bought unintentionally. the original plan was the adapters for oem rail and -6 an lines. then A great package deal with the FIC rail, afpr, and large filter popped up. I couldn't resist as the adapters were shipping. :banghead:

So I have either option. I was hesitant about the FIC rail at first but its kinda growing on me...

Now that the oem looks really nice, Im even more torn.

Well since the rail is cast, you would have to regularly have to polish/upkeep it to keep it looking fresh. The anodized FIC rail is as easy as just wiping it off. I have many polished parts and I have to polish them pretty often, but it's not that bad. I also DD my car so it sees all sorts of conditions.

if you like the polished look i think they have a clear powder coat. so you could have it polished and clear powder coated so all you have to do is wipe it off. i would hope nothing would get that high to hit and crack the coating so it should be pretty safe and last a long time. i've also seen colored clear powder coats if you get what im saying. kinda like a colored chrome? red green blue. (red looks more like pink to me but eh to each there own).

The fuel rail stays pretty cool right? until you turn the engine off and heat soak right? If I get a high temp clear coat, could I apply it directly to the polished surface? I dont wanna scratch up my 2 hour polishing job.

Not seeing any FIC love, anyone care to elaborate on that? color bad? shape bad? both bad?
