Here we go, I found a pair of front stock strut assemblies at the junkyard because mine had lowering springs and were missing parts etc... So I did both sides and the suspension is good but one issue. It sounds like something is wobbling around I cant tell if its the left or right side (Sounds like right). When I did the struts one of the cv shafts did pop out at and I had to slide it back in (The right side shaft). Also, The right side cv shaft boots are ripped so it has lost a lot of grease but everywhere I have read says that would cause squeaking not wobbling.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you get the axle pushed all the way back in? They have to 'click' in place.

When my shaft boot ripped it did cause a wobble in the steering. It only lasted for a short period of time then I took a tight turn and heard a loud pop and the wobble went away. I assume since it wasn't lubed properly the joint locked up and then freed itself when I turned. I replaced it shortly after and haven't had a problem since.

Jack the Car up put it back on jack stand and inspect your work when doing work on the suspension of any car it is not something to take lightly and Nobody is going to in the end be able to tell what the problem is aside from you... .

I do have a question though you at least got an alinement after you R&R'd the struts right?

Yeah.. I would jack it up NOW and just re-inspect my work. Wobbling after installing suspension would terrify me. :p

a bad cv joint can cause wobbling. if its dry or has dirt in it. i would pull that axle out and check it.

Yea I was talking to a buddy and he said the shaft had to pop in to and it definitely didn't it just kinds fell out when I had the control arm off.. I figured it would pop back in when I bolted it back up because there is no where else for it to go.. As for being terrifying I drove it to work and back today as I had no choice. Wobbled but drove ok...ish

Guess you know what to try to accomplish today then! Push it till she pops. :sneaky:

Make sure to check your fluid levels in your trans after as well.

Also, if you have trouble getting it to click (I couldn't get a grip on mine) what I did was take a block of wood and a hammer and lightly tapped it a few times went right in.

On the metal part right before the trans, not on or before any of the boots. It doesn't take too much.

Not sure about 2g's but on a 1G you can remove the passenger side half shaft without it leaking tranny fluid. If your boots are ripped you should replace the half shafts, it is called a half shaft the CV joint is the joint that is actually in the half shaft. Secondly getting used struts is probably not a good idea especially since new KYB GR2 shocks on ebay are so damn cheap. The popping sound you are hearing could be the struts or the springs, probably the struts because springs really don't go bad. And it could also be the half shaft because when there is no grease in the boot the dry up and cuase a clicking/popping sound when you drive and especially when you turn.

Sorry, But you can't pull the Half shafts on our transmissions without it leaking fluid... . Maybe a Honda but not ours.

Update, Alright so I pulled the driver side shaft out and the whole clip and assembly stayed in and the ball joint in the shaft came out. I was like ummmmm, So I looked further and the part that clips in was still in the tranny along with the casing and boot. Guess I found my problem then huh? Explains why it wasn't leaking too.

This is the end that goes into the tranny, The other end is yet to be removed...

Lol now the fun begins tomorrow morning I have to attempt to remove the shaft and the rest of whats in the tranny, Any tips on this? Is there some sort of clip i have to pop off? Its actually quite difficult to reach and my 3" exhaust runs right below it so not much room at all...

I didnt pull on it when I unbolted the top control arm bolt the assembly dropped and the shaft with it. I thought this was normal which now that I think about it was completely ridiculous.

Its possible that it popped out of socket when it dropped, and that was the wabbling that you felt. I used a jack to lower is slowly when I did mine. But I also replaced evrything in the front dealing with suspension.

Also no their is no clip that you have to remove. Just get a pry bar and find a spot to pry it on, I usualy use the tranny as a lift point. hope this helps and good luck :thumb:

Thanks for all the help guys, you guys are all awesome, I will update tomorrow.

I got mad trying to use a pry bar, so I did the same thing I suggested earlier but the other way around.

Took a 2x4 and got it so it was wedged on the big metal part of the axle right where it plugs in, and tapped it a few times with a hammer. Worked like a charm. To hell with pry bars.

K so I went put the new axle in and of course it was the wrong one. Checked into and the part number was right and suppose to have 27 splines inboard, checked mine and only had 25..... I was so P*****. Went back to checker and they are getting another one in today hopefully the right one this time.

Just called checker and the new one has 27 splines thank god.
