Just picked up my first dsm- A 95 eclipse GSX. Noticed i had a pretty significant oil leak coming from one of the oil lines into the turbo. I tightened the clamp and added half a quart of oil to replace what leaked out-now no leak, but the car smokes like a fogmachine. it didnt do this on my testdrive and was wondering if this could be a product of me having too much oil in the engine, or if the turbo is shot? checked the dipstick but i dont believe its a factory stick, the tops broken off and if it is factory, i have about twice as much oil as it should have in the engine- and it had that much at the time of my testdrive, and didnt smoke. is too much oil my problem or is there some other more sinister reason as to why my car does this?

yes what Rideit636 said and check your turbo for shaft play. and i whould recommend probably getting a ss braided oil feed + return although its not nessacery.

Check what they are saying, id drain all the oil and change it since you just got the car and then if it still smokes look at what color the smoke is white is a possiable headgasket burning coolant blue tint is burning oul which could be bad rings or a bad turbo and black is the better of the three and is just running to rich , to much gas, which depending on whats done to the car determins what you would do.

LOL OIL not oul

drained oil-replaced with 4 qts- car is fine now, had 6 qts in engine at least. not bad for 1200 bucks- cant wait to eat some hondas :D

^It should be fine if it wasn't run for an extended amount of time. I would see some seals being blown out first. I would clean out the intake, intercooler, and pcv hoses though. There's for sure some oil in places it doesn't belong. I've seen people (twice, yes twice) drain the ATF on auto 2Gs and put 4 more quarts in the engine and actually get 10-15 miles before the transmission called it quits. Engine was fine though. Lol.

Also, purchase the correct dipstick, or mark yours. You never know how much you're leaking and/or burning. It is a DSM after all.

PCV hoses for sure but intake and intercooler? why whould these be affected by too much oil?

the cars runs great now. just some front end suspension noise, my springs were butchered by a previous owner.

I dont have to worry about an automatic, i made sure i got a stick.

id like to do an ac delete just to clean up the engine bay but am unsure of whats ac or whats brakes etc- week one of owning a new car huh...:hmm:

alright so one of my hoses melted & started leaking oil. i wntd to check the oil but my dipstick is broken & was almost all the way in & couldnt take it out, so i just put two liters of oil & the car was runnin fine but then the turbo stopped working so i changed the oil & put the proper FOUR liters. & the turbo isnt spoolin yet, yu guys kno what happened & how i can fix it?

So wait, let me get this right, they drained their ATF and then put ATF in the oil instead of back in the tranny?

Welcome to the game, be prepaired to spend lots of time with your car because I imagine until you replace everything on the car it's gonna be a good but constant headach.

All the piping to the Turbo and intercooler tight?

Can you hear the turbo but its just not boosting?

You should probably start a new post instead of jacking this one. I would say you have a boost leak if your not spooling. Even if the turbo is going bad it still spools and having to much oil would affect your engine not your turbo. Not getting any oil to the turbo on the other hand can be very bad and maybe cause it to sieze.

i wanted to do a nee post but im new to this & i didnt find the link for a new post. so yur sayin its a boost leak? is it bad if im using it while the boost isnt working?

redslayer: yeah everythings tight but still cant hear the turbo
