Whats up guys. Im new to dsm and this is my first dsm i have owned.
i picked it up for $2500. I have only owned ther car for about a month now. When i bought the tsi it had a pretty loud tick when it was running. I noticed there was quite a bit of oil on the driver side of the engine and engine bay. Im honestly not 100% sure on the issue is yet i have been working on the car as much as i can to get it fixed. Regardless of the problem i couldnt pass this deal up expecialy sence ive always want to ask the owner if he wanted to sell it yhe first time i seen it in person a few years ago. So if any one has any input on what the problem might be let me know any info will be greatly appreciated. I will put pics up in a little while when i have a pc to use.

We need photos to see what you see! You can use UV oil dye to see where the oil is coming from. Check you oil filter housing, oil pan, lower timing crank seal, etc...anything that is the lower half of the head..........Good luck on the project!

thanks for the info. the engine is hopefully coming out tomorrow then i can take it apart and look ever thing over and get it fixed the b.s.e kit installed here are some pics. the bottom 3 pics are from the previous owner of the car

Wow, engine bay looks pretty decent. :thumb:. What type of wheels are those?

If the motor isnt trashed I think you got a real good deal. Nice looking car.

Its a good deal there quite a bit done to the car. There is not a spot of rust on the car. Hopefully the engine comes out today and i can get it taken apart and figure out the problem. Goin to take a ton of pics and keep you guys updated

Thanks. And i love the smaller wings. I personaly not a big fan of other wing they came with

Just a small update. The engine is all ready to come out of the car ive ran in to a few snags im trying to work out. I probably have the engine out by now if my help would stop bailing on me.. i have pics will have them posted soon.

Well the engine is just about out of the car. I just have to pull the front axles. But does any one know what the best flyid is to put in the transfer case and trans?

I guess i better fill in some details on whats goin on amd maybe you guys can lend me a handLOL. But this is whats goin on. As i said before when i bought the cars it had a knock/tick when it was running. But after about a min of idling t would quiet down. But once revved it would obviously get louder. It sounded like the niose was coming from the head. I also noticed that the drive side of the engine (front of engine) was covered in oil. I talked to a budy of mine that owns a gst and know alot about the 4g63 and he said it sounded like a spun rod bearing, another friend of mine said it sounded like it was not getting oil to the head. Ive also been told that its a balance shaft beating gone bad. I drained the oil out and there is no metal shavings i als cut the oil filter apart to check for metal shavings and there was none. I thinnk my oil pump is bad. But if any one has any other ideas on what it might be let me know and thanks in advanve for the info

Any body?

well her is a small update final go tht engine out sence i had some spare time now im just woring on geting the front end taken apart and geting the engine and trans cleaned up. ill post pics soon my computer is not working right at the moment

Nice looking talon, you need a 3m headlight restore kit tho :thumb: I'm dealing with a similar driver's side oil leak, I might pull the engine like you are to replace all the seals and timing belt

Thanks guys. I did restore the head lights LOL. The oil seal on the front housing for the crank went bad
